Also, in a lot of places if you don't have the bottle with the prescription information on the side you can actually get arrested. Best to just leave that stuff alone unless you really need it, and then if you need an antibiotic chances are really good that you shouldn't be driving in the first place.
And, antibiotics do NOTHING for a cold. A cold is a virus, not an infection.
Just my two cents for those wanting to avoid unnecessary hospital stays and doctor visits while on the road. -
Agreed. As with life, more input helps keep me in the steady lane.

Thank you to all who contributed useful information in this thread. I am yet another student driver leaving on a bus tomorrow. Going to drive for Werner from Atlanta terminal. Wish me luck!!

About midway through this thread, a couple of folks mentioned air cards. Are these the mobile modems that you have to buy with a 1- or 2-year contract and plug into the side of your laptop? Contracts with mobile telephone companies are never hassle-free, but as far as I know they're the only way to have dependable mobile internet connection. Am I mistaken?
Also, what's the best "newbie" GPS system -- durable, easy-to-use, and economical -- and who sells them? I definitely will be using a GPS as icing on the cake, with the cake being my road atlas. -
Can't help ya with the GPS, but we have a Verizon air card about the size of a jump drive that plugs in your computer. Between $50 & $60 a month 2 yr. contract. Works everywhere a phone works. Not sure about the other carrier coverage. Works perfect. You get 5 Gigabytes per month before you have to pay extra. Don't know how much that is, but have never even used above 2 GB in a month and that was including a week at the beach w/kids and boss on net 4 or 5 hours a day.

Just a suggestion if you live where they have Cricket you can get an air card through them at a pretty cheap rate and its unlimited. The kicker there is if you dont live where its popular you have to order it online and wait for it. Its a thought. I bought a netbook from verizon cost me 20 for the netbook with a 2yr contract. The only down side was my first bill was 106 because of the activation fee and everything els. So just do a bit of research with different carriers there is bound to be something that will work well for you.
