When you go flying off that mountain with that 6,000,000 dollar load and you kill yourself and the truck and perhaps someone else, I am sure someone is gonna have to pay for that. You think its gonna be the CEO of Swift? No. It will be the little men of the company...aka the drivers....
So yes, it does effect people. Not to mention your own family.
Coasting down a steep grade...............don't do it........

these videos is what makes swift drivers look stupid. i'm not dumb enough to drive distracted enough to end up in a ditch, in good weather. i'm not dumb enough to try to go under a 13' bridge. i'm not dumb enough to burn my drive rubber off because i'm not smart enough to have a couple bags of kitty litter in my truck. i'm smart enough to take turns wide enough, and then STILL watch my big ##### in the mirrors to make sure i dont go in the ditch. Do i know everything? No...never said i do. But having 2 yrs experience over a swift rookie with a month....i'm much better off.
but for all you lease/operators running around so proud of yourself because you're calling yourself an owner/op....and paying $500/wk then turning the truck back in because you cant afford the $50,000 balloon payment, and nobody will finance you.....so you get dumped into another lease truck paying $500 a week. LOL.....best of luck to ya. again...i'll enjoy my couple hundred in my back pocket, and enjoy a nice cigar from time to time. -
ditto......... -
so i'm done defending myself. I optimize the best of my 11/14/70 hr clock to make the most $$$ i can. I'm not out here to babysit. I'm not out here because i want to walk thru truck stop parking lots with dried p!ss and whatever else on the pavement. I'm out here to make money...plain and simple. I have no house or car payment...no kids that i dont know of...everything i make...goes to nobody but me. So i honestly dont care what anybody else thinks about me. So keep giving me shatner all you want.....cause you're wasting your time. -
Just wondering.....
Oh and by the way, I don't care about your situation, but I do care about how you drive. Everyone should.
I will tell you that I want the people driving around me to be convienced that I am a safe driver too. Sooner or later, our paths may cross and maybe even more than once. I would sure like to be able to feel safe when I drive around you.....Injun Thanks this. -
that is the biggest motivation for NOT getting into an accident for me. Even if i bump someone, if it happens to be the WRONG someone, i'm working for the rest of my life for nothing, cause they'll come after everything i own, and i'll be ruined...financially. I think some of you get this picture of me flying down a mountain hanging half out the window, slappin' a cowboy hat on the side of the truck, yelling YEEEE HAWWWW!!!!! Think that if you want. i DONT do that. i'm not reckless, i'm not a danger to those around me. Who is more dangerous.....the 18 year old texting on I-94 in chicago going 70....or me driving CONTROLLED down a slight grade going 68.
again....i dont care what anyone thinks. if its such a problem.....then i had better get pulled into my FMs office in the next week. -

One last question for all you super hobby truckers who think their better than everyone else....
you've never seen a big truck going 68+? One poster said they want to know that other drivers are safe around them. I can understand that...but aside from prejudging drivers based on the name on the side of the door, how do u know one truck going 68...and then see another truck going 68....how can you tell if one is safer than the other? if trucks were unsafe by going 68...some who go 75+...i'm sure no truck maker would NOT put a govenor on the truck, and/or there would be some federal law preventing trucks from going faster than 65 because it has been proven faster trucks become more unsafe.
My mentor would ask me, "why are you driving on the white line? (when driving on 2 lane roads when approaching another driver) You've been thru the proper training, you've been to school, you know what you're doing..." and all i said was "yeah, but how do i know THEY have?"
so i'm done with this attack. you drive your truck, and i'll drive mine. case closed. -

Seen lots of trucks going 68 and 75. They're not governed. And therefore it is safe for them to do it.
You cannot defend an indefensible position. Just ask General Custer when you see him.
