Hey ORG!!! almost to the end and I bet you can just about 'smell' your 'freedom!' Soon you will get your own rig and be able to finally set it up and get rolling!! Hopefully you will get some time to post more of your training cuz it, as with your original thread, is a GREAT read! I think like Chris, you will find that once you are OTR you are still gonna find it hard at times to post cuz you will be tired and want to spend time with your family first and get to your TTR family later ( we understand!!)
Keep the shiney side up!!!! -
Hey Org, excellent material...you've kept me on the edge of my seat! I found and read your first thread after it was locked an docked and as others may have mentioned i have spent some solid time reading it all the way through. I am now caught up on reading this one as well, and look forward to lots more of your adventures. I am a wannabe for the moment with serious aspirations and a heck of a lot more research to go...you have helped a lot with this process!
Best wishes for safe and frutiful travels!what would you say is hardest when it comes to the paperwork? I have an operations and administrative background so look forward to the trip planning, record keeping, etc. -
Orientation lasted 3 days. Mon-Wed. and some students were on a mentors truck wed or thurs. I ended up having to wait till monday. They must have lost the notes where i said i wanted a male mentor that didn't smoke. My first mentor they offered me was a smoker. Lucky for me, the student "DM" didnt last long. =)
Its pretty boring actually. -
Found out yesterday morning, that someone backed into me while sitting at the I-80 super truck stop in Walcott, IA. Grille is cracked....just a crack..no missing pieces, etc.....and the (fake) chrome at the very bottom also is cracked. They also dinged the fiberglass between the bumper and grille. The bumper is fine...which leads me to believe someones trailer clipped me. Now i know why some drivers (regardless of who they drive for) pull into a spot rather than back up. Guess i'll have to set up my video camera to record while i sleep or step away from my truck. -

Some say trainers may make you do more and since people are scared to piss off the trainer they give in and stuff. Just stuff I've heard or read. Haven't had the experience yet myself. -
Giantmonkey, A team truck can move 24 hours a day. There are ways to log it so you can move 7 days a week. Personally I don't see the reason for teams to have to do logs. The logbook was invented to protect the driver from having to drive too many hours. With two people on a truck there is always someone resting and someone driving. I believe it should be left up to the drivers of the teams to decide who is rested enough to drive and who needs rest. The most dumbest thing I have ever heard of is to make someone drive for ten hours while someone is in the sleeper for ten hours. Legally the person cannot sit in the passenger seat. There is no way physically possible to lay in that sleeper for ten hours! When I was trained team the laws were different and you could run 5 hour shifts. This was perfect! Let's just say I MAY have still ran it this way and it MAY be a real pain in the ### to log!

Hey buddy! Just stopping to say hello and I hope all is going well for you. I've been running pretty hard so I don't get much time online. Just enough to "almost" keep up with my thread really....
Anyway, I got your voice mail and I'll return your call soon as my minutes have now reset....!!
Well, off to Atlanta for another load. Talk atcha soon my friend!

Hey ORG! It's true what Chris says about 'his' thread LOL! If it were not for Wedge, myself and a few others....well..... let's just say his thread would be buried by now!!!
According to the time stamp here on TTR 6 days ago you had 65 hours left ( okay math 11hrs max day x 6 days=66hrs) so I am GUESSING that you should be JUST ABOUT DONE with your training!! You may have a few hours left considering you might not get 11 every day or had to do a 34.
I am not sure how long you will have to wait to get your own truck but hopefully not long as I am sure you are just itching to get out and hit the asphalt! Hopefully they can route you towards home so you can pick up some stuff and get the truck set up too.
CAN'T wait to hear from you soon and catch us all up on how everything worked out!!!!
