I run the 444's (16ply 24.5) on the drives. They're great in the mud/snow they wear flat and wear good. But they're noisy, not a big deal for me but some people are picky.
I never used to like Generals but now that's all we buy for any equipment that hauls heavy. After buying several multi-axle flat beds and they all have had Generals we did some searching and they are VERY popular for heavy haul. The sidewalls DO NOT roll over when turning (on a spread) unlike every other brand. They do not have near the sidewall flex of the other brands which means less heat. After switching other trailers over to Generals I haven't had near the tire issues of the Goodrich's we usually ran.
Also Continental is the only brand that makes a 16ply LP 24.5 and General is the only one I've found that makes a LP 22.5 that's also 16ply (12 ply tires don't work with heavy loads, tried it and got tired of repairing the damage)

I have noticed they are a little nosier than my other tires but I can get used to it.
-
I think it took about 10 months to wear a set down on my spread axle. I have no idea how good or bad that is. I know I got into a lot of tight places and had to run over a few curbs at various angles. They took some damage from that occasionally but I only had one tire ever fail from it.
On the other hand, I was talking to the fleet manager at when I was interviewing for my current job and we got to talking about tires. He knew about generals but they are running goodyears now. Continentals cost $260 on a fleet account and Goodyears are running $300. I got over 120k out of the continental steer tires on my truck with it a bit out of alignment but he said he's getting over 250k out of the goodyears. His trucks never leave the pavement though and they don't have any spreads in the fleet. -
Big wind last weds. night blew a bunch of rice down. We sure seem to be going slow. We're about 20% done I think.
wheathauler Thanks this. -
About all we left here is beans by what I can tell. Going to put new turn signal switch on my truck now. Wouldn't be bad except you have to pull the steering wheel off.

Well, steering wheel came off okay. I have a steering wheel puller which helps quite a bit. I've been messing with no turn signal on my truck and hopefully the switch solves this. Turn signal problems are a pain to figure out.
dairyman Thanks this. -
Wheathauler, did you get your turn signal fixed?
Dairyman, did you get your pyro working all the time?
We got a little over an inch of rain last night, put a stop to things for a day or 2. Going to run a load of lumber to WI this afternoon, try to keep the sawmill happy with me. -
Yep, I believe I got turn signal fixed. Crazy thing would work on 4 ways, stop lights, marker lights. Guess something was just wrong with turn signal switch. New one seemed to fix it.

Raining this afternoon. Hopefully the winds die down after cold front comes through. 20-40 mph almost all week. Played heck with my fuel mileage.
