There are days I could lay in that sleeper for 15 hours and just sleep. I get really tired after a week and need extra sleep.

    I guess I'm just a whimp.:biggrin_25523:

Okay, to begin with you can drive 11 hours a shift. But also the law isn't written for "a day", it reads that you can drive 11 hours within a 14 window then you must have a minimum of 10 hours off duty.

So this means on a team truck you actually could be driving 14 hours within a 24 hour period if your partner's 10 was in the middle.

i dont know about all solo drivers but i love when im at a terminal and a trainee comes up to me and start talking about how easy driving is and this is is the easiest job he or she has ever had. but i try to tell them wait to you go solo life isnt as simple then there isnt 2 of you then, theres only one and sometimes you've gotta do what you gotta do to get the load there on time just my 2 cents:biggrin_255:

I'm going to have a lot of interesting details to provide when I can, but to make a long story short, I'm *done* with my mentor training and fully upgraded. I'm a truck driver now! I have the next 6 days off and they are going to transfer me to Colorado so I can be with my family!

Believe me, I *will* be posting more details in the next couple of days or so, but I wanted to briefly let everybody know all is well, and I'm a truck driver, whooohoooo!

My first day was August 18th and I finished my training on September 23rd, so that was a bit under 5 weeks. I completed before anybody else in my orientation because I ran so hard. That even includes some home time requests from my mentor. Then I was tested and upgraded yesterday.
