Hey Swift drivers, don't be lazy and inconsiderate....

ive been to the denver yard on occasion. And to the yard in Greer, SC. Thank goodness i havent been that far east or west in a LONG time, but Denver wasn't all that bad. Greer on the otherhand, looked like a parking lot where all the rejected trailers get parked. I had been told that they did some land surveying, and were going to expand the yard, but all the land behind the fence is almost a marsh, and would take too much fill to make it worth while.

as far as "independant contractor". you can call yourself whatever you want. But if you lease a truck thru swift, IEL or any of its parent companies, and you make your truck payment TO SWIFT, you're relying on getting miles from the same company you're making your truck payment to, and you cannot 'take your truck' to the next company if you're not getting the miles to make said truck payment (because its not really your truck and your name isnt even on the title to the truck).....That, by definition, sweetheart, is "dependant". (webster.com: 2: one that is dependent; especially : a person who relies on another for support

so...call yourself what you want. just know that we all know that you're not an owner, and you're not independant. And i for one, will continue to laugh at those who have to pretend they're better/different than everyone else to inflate their ego.

hey, i passed a.......ahem........independant contractor the other day east of st. louis. they were going 61 and i was going 62. Hope it was okay to pass them.


oh and P.S....those who stick out their chest and say "i'm an Owner/Op" or "independant contractor" are the same kinds of drivers who blow $2,000 on their CB radio just to be the loudest, talk the farthest, have the most power at any given truck stop. The same kind of drivers who run 63....then get passed, and half to speed up so they dont get sacked. The same kind of drivers who, if they DO get passed, has to pass you back. the same kind of driver who thinks they have to beat everybody up. the same kind of driver who says "i get 4000 miles a week as a swift company driver"...when we all know they dont. Its all an ego thing. If its not ego, then it is a lack of confidence.

 

i'm not saying it is. i could care less who i pass, or when i get passed (and in a swift co. truck...i get passed all the time, so i'm use to it.)

 

actually, genius, it was a joke.....if you remember a thread a while back about 'past experience' and someone made a joke about knowing someone who use to be a truck driver. Then i said 'my dad drove truck for 30 years, so i could claim him as part of my experience'...then changed it from 2 to 32.
