What I would really like to see is all of us who are stating "legal opinions" back them up with some type of statute being cited.
Just some of the stupid things I see

I cant immagining a judge accepting the argument of "Well I asked him for recipts, he said they had been mailed, but he had sealed envalopes containing stamps in the truck so I opened them and found the recipts in question" -
I always have...It takes up less room in the truck when it's not in the truck.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -

My kid get them and takes them to the CPA that I use every few weeks and he takes care of all of that...Because I am not a good file clerk.
No trouble at all to mail it home every week. -
I did not say it would be opened. I said it could be.
There was a post on this forum quite a long while ago where his mail was opened during a search. I do not remember whether it was sealed or not.
All I stated is that the envelope is not considered to be part of the US Mail until it is dropped in the mail box. When do you consider a letter mailed? When you stamp it?
I asked a friend who worked at the Post office many years ago and that is what he stated.
Whatever contest you refer too, is a two party thing.
But, I am only referring to personal experience as well.
I mail condifential information to clients which is of no business to any law enforcement officer when it is in the truck. It is the reason I asked for advice conderning the material. -
Wish more clients thought ahead like this. -
Another reason that I do that...I don't want some guy ('cause that's all a cop really is is just "some guy" with a badge) rootin' through all of my paperwork.
It's none of his business!
If I get audited or rather, If the carrier that I'm leased to gets audited, All of the necessary documentation will be there for the auditor to see...I don't need some clown that has little or no idea what he's even looking at goin' through it on the side of the road and lookin' for anything that "he" in his all seeing wisdom finds that he thinks is improper.
Because with CSA2010 looming on the horizon a misinterpretation of some piece of paper by some guy with a badge can cost me a lot more than aggravation and a small amount of inconvenience while I prove him to be wrong.
Now it will count against me whether I'm right or wrong.
These are my documents and are my business and they are not subject to arbitrary inspection by any dunce with a badge that thinks he needs to see them!RW., CivilWerks, josh.c and 2 others Thank this.
