We have seen a couple fields of beans make 60 and 62 so far, some of our best ground, but I hope they continue to be similar to that. I took some non-GMO corn down to CGB at Naples, IL for the first time this season, and what do I find but the IL Pork Producers are handing out free lunches! :biggrin_25519::biggrin_25514: They had someone at the probe asking if you wanted hamburger or porkburger, and what kind of pop you wanted, then wrote it down and gave it to you when you weighed empty going out, in a sack with a bag of chips and a cookie. My gosh, I thought I hit the lottery!

It was a wild day in the markets wasn't it? Corn down .30, beans down .49. I think it was just a correction, I think it will slowly come back. Of course I'm a trucker and not a market guru, so take that for what little its worth.....:biggrin_2559:

I've heard some irrigated made 70 and the dryland was in the 30 to 40's. The heat hurt it this year. They were cutting some 12.2 moisture beans yesterday.

Man, I would have killed for that lunch. It beats the heck out of sandwiches.

I was just looking threw this weeks Truck Paper and their is an ad for O/O's to pull hoppers. Anyone know of NCI Transportation out of Lewis, KS. Say's they need 10 to 15 O/O's immediately. It says "Don't run your hard earned equipment for sub-par rates", Frequently Out Promised- Seldom Out Performed", Serious Inquires Only, Please" They show a big fancy flat top Pete and spread axle hopper like Highsides ride. Don't you guy's ask me for the number because I am going to call them first and don't need you guys trying to squeeze me out of this gold mine of a haul. :biggrin_25523: Don't have a map in front of me so where is Lewis, KS at?

70 miles west of Hutch. Anything I knew going out of Lewis was alfalfa. Never heard of NCI either, not sure how their rates would be so much better than anyone else. The brokers all know what each other is paying and stay in that range.

Nope, never heard of them or seen them. I've been doing local last few months so they may be OTR.

It says they run in the midwest and I am sure they haul ingredients and such. I am sure Bill will know who they are.

Man you need to get out of town from time to time. I think I can get you a load out to the west coast and back, take the wife and do a little sight seeing. You may enjoy it and get back home and sell that hopper and go full time OTR. I am not sure if that C13 will be able to climb the mountains I may have to go along and pull you up and over. :biggrin_25523:

All I can tell you is that there were 3 companies that hauled soybean meal to the feed mill in the TX panhandle that I haul to: me, Sun Valley (WH knows them) and an outfit named NCI. I don't know where they were out of because the trucks that brought NCI's loads always were from different companies (which means the loads were brokered out - not on true leased O/O trucks.) Anyway, a couple weeks ago, they dropped the ball on some loads going out there, and the rest of the story is that there are now only 2 companies hauling soybean meal out there now and I have more loads than I used to. :biggrin_25522:
Cargill doesn't play the rate cutting game on their bean meal. They play the performance game. If you perform consistently - you get the loads. If you don't, and there's somebody who is dependable wanting your loads, they will get them if they want them. Simple as that.

Big John - they probably pay about the same as every other commodity outfit out there. I'd imagine you could clear at least $1.40/mile with them if not more if they're good at what they do, but, I could be wrong, too.

Hey guys. I'm asking for some help to a small organization that is near and dear to me. First off, let me say I'm NOT ASKING FOR DONATIONS!!! Only a minute of your time.

In 2007, my wife's cousin and his wife lost their one and a half year-old daughter to brain cancer. Since then, they've started a charitable organization with the goal of raising money to fund research to cure pediatric brain cancer. It's called the Kyrie Foundation. www.kyriefoundation.org I encourage you to check it out.

This month, Pepsi is giving away a $250,000 grant to the organization that can get the most votes. This is where I'm asking for your help.

The Kyrie Foundation is currently in 45th place out of over 1100 applicants, so they need all the help they can get! Voting is free...it only requires a minute of your time.

You can vote once per day, EVERY DAY until the end of October, when the winner will be determined, so please vote every day if you choose to help this great cause.

You can vote by texting 103447 to 73774,

by going to www.refresheverything.com/kyriefoundation and voting there,

or by going to Pepsi's Refresh Facebook page and clicking "go to application" to vote.

Each method can be counted as a vote, so those of you who want to help with a little extra time on your hands can actually cast 3 votes!

A heartfelt thanks to all who choose to help!

Thanks again! - Bill aka "highside"
