Are there any OTR company's based out of or have operating centers in Rocky Mount NC that hire new drivers? I've tried searching the rest of the site and the Internet unsuccessfully.

Roanoke Rapids as well?

I've been looking mostly at flatbeds, and the two I've found up there is McElroy in Roanoke Rapids, and Howard Transport in Kenly.
NobodysFool Thanks this. -
There is Barnes Transportation out of Wilson, NC which does 48 states. Super Service has a terminal some where around Roanoke Rapids I believe. Epes Transport has a terminal in Wilson also. That is all I can think of. There are a lot of companies that have terminals near Chester, VA. That is not far from Rocky Mt.

Thanks much for the info. I knew there had to be some around but just didn't know where to look. I already knew that Swift had a terminal in Chester but they don't get much good press in here. May need a year before Barnes will consider me but a year ain't much with a carrier like Swift if that's the only choice. If you start with a not so desirable company for a year then your thankful for and appreciate your next, better company.

Barnes requires 2 yrs experience. They offered me a job once and I turned it down. I may try them again sometime. How many yrs do you have? I know Heartland has a terminal in Chester also.

TransAm used to have a terminal in Battleboro at the KW dealership. I used to run out of that term. doing OTR but I think they recently shut that terminal down.

I'm not a driver yet, just doing my homework for when I am several years from now. I didn't realize Heartland had a terminal in Chester, that's great! They advertise .45 a mile after a year but nothing about new drivers. May have to do a year at a driver mill before I go there.

I were you I would get on w/someone like Schneider and go through there school, then I think you have to drive w/them for atleast a year. But that would be cheaper than going through a truck driving sch like I did.
