Notice its a guy that ain't been doing the job, telling us how to do it his way? I'm sure once he has been out here for 20 years, his song will change. Iffin he lasts!!!

The great thing about trucking is that you have lots of time to think, about how to make mountains out of molehills! Yes, complaining is part of the job description, deal with it! But then again so is the fact that truckers seem to have great difficulty telling the truth. You're not gonna believe this but...........

Myself i would like too see more drivers just do there job, i enjoy my time on the road, more times then not, there sitting at the dock, i wait on the chair and wacth time after time , those rude drivers give wholly what for to the lady, in her office , at the window, as she tells him , to park the truck and same driver comes back in 5 hours latter and tells her my appt was at 9 am , whats going on, as he whines about this load , i was allready there for my 6 am unload, she explain too me there machine broke down and doing the best they can, meanwhile shes trying too handel all these whinny drivers , i buy her a cup of coffee and tell her it be allright, then shes get a call and tells me back up the trl too door 34 and the unloading process begins, but yes we drivers about everything from a-z , somes things we can control , others we can not, it called trucking, and this makes me wondering mayby this why they got fired fronm there land job, day job in the first place,
Everett

I think many here said it well.
We are on the road for long periods of time with limited access to other people.
For many of us nobody at home has any idea what trucking is like.
Yes I love driving, but there are allot of stresses out here, and allot of time to think.
The "Mole hills to Mountains" analogy is perfect. The more time you have to think the more small things will frustrate you.
At that point you need people to talk to that will understand the situation. Thus you come here.
Yes allot of new and wannabe drivers come to this site for information. But allot of drivers on the road come here too.
If you want a nice industry sugar coated site I am sure you can find it in some recruiters forum. Otherwise it is what it is.
Lazy? Maybe some are. But if they are making a living out here at all they are doing more work every day than the average person and working more hours a week than the average person does in 2 weeks.Scrumdog, JimBob24, PowderBlue and 1 other person Thank this. -
We are still the modern day cowboys out here, ride for 8 seconds then wait another week to ride again. Hint, hint, it's called a layover and don't expect to get paid much for it

I been trucking for 34 yrs and I still look forward to going into work in the morning.. I work the oil patch here in western Canada and its a great life and pays pretty good too.. although what I do is not for every oone.. some just cany handle driving a semi uop the side of a mountian to get pipe to a rig.. and have had new guys quit as soon as they got back to the shop after only one training trip lol
JustSonny, Row Ashore and JimBob24 Thank this. -
She even loves me!!! *not really* But she does tolerate me from time to time
Most of the time I'm not even on her "IGNORE" list.
I don't whine...I bi+ch and moan, But I never whine!
I've been out here for a long time and I still LOVE this shi+....But I still find it quite amusing when I see this kind of post because the man has no experience to base his opinion that we should all be upbeat and happy all the time and never bi+ch about anything....
I agree that IF HE LASTS, He will probably change his tune pretty quickly
Particularly since he's gonna be entering through one of the stellar bottom feeders that are so great to work for!

BlackW900, your pics at the bottom of your posts are pretty #### cool, I get a kick out of seeing them every time you change them. I've been driving now for 7 years but often wonder about the "good ol" days back when there was a sense of pride in doing this job. Even though I'm a newer breed of driver I pride myself in carrying on the old school values of this trade, even though my efforts are rarely noticed I do believe a guy like you and a few others out there still feel the "brotherhood" of trucking.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Whats England paying now? 22 cents per mile? I know its not much more than that LOL
