Seriously, where is the best BBQ you can find that a truck can get into? I make it a habit of stopping at any Bar-B-Que joint I can find and so far the best is in Florida, although there's a place in Texas on I-10 just before the La state line that rocks...

There is a place in Amarillo, TX. looks like a hokey lookin place, but you get inside, and the place is HUGE. never been there, but saw it on the Food channel. they have some 77 oz steak that if you can eat it in an hour, its free. =)

That would be the Big Texan Steak Ranch - You can see it right off the freeway on the north side. Food is OK, service is pretty good, prices reasonable, lots of stuff to look at inside, lots of different beers (did I say that?), plenty of truck parking, and a free car service to/from the Armadilla hotels. The free steak is 72 ounces, you sit up in a raised area to try it, the rules are posted (it is not just a steak). Never tried the BBQ, so I guess Off topic. Sorry.

I was there eat'n a few weeks ago (Ocean Springs location). I had to go down there for an firefighting inspection aboard the USS Gravely... still under construction.

Food was real good. Free drafts everytime the Saints scored a touchdown. Fun time.

Everyone knows the best BBQ is in Kansas City Missouri. Gates, Jack Stack, KC Masterpiece are three of the top ones.

Hudsons BBQ! Douglasville, GA. It's so good the train stops on the track in front of the Resturant and the guy will run in and pay and come out with his big bag of food!
You can park a truck on the side of the street but get it to go!
Directions: I-20 exit 34 and 36! It's on Hwy 78 which runs parallel with the interstate. The best way in is exit 34 Hwy 5. Go north to first street on right rose Ave. WARNING! I do not know if they have made this a weigh limit or truck restricted street. If it is stay on Hwy 5 to hwy 78 and turn right and pull onto the edge of the parking lot and go into the carry out door! Or call ahead! (770) 942-4828 On Rose ave pull over onto the edge of the parking lot also!. Exit 36 go north to Hwy 78 turn left or west and go until you see the restaurant and see where all the other trucks have pulled over on the shoulder next to the tracks.
You have a choice of "plates" with pork and beef BBQ and fries! Their Brunswick Stew is to kill for! And of course the sweet tea!!
If you're heading this way and have a cooler get me a gallon of Brunswick Stew will ya! LOL
I was raised on Hudsons and after 32 years driving all 48 and having eaten BBQ in every state and yes NC Yellow BBQ well it ain't right! I've even had BBQ from the BBQ place in Brooklyn!Yeah it's in NYC and as we all know yankees really don't do well with southern food unless they come from the area! it's not bad but of course it never saw Hudsons or KC! It'll do for a quick fix!
Just off the BQE exit 32 but please use your map! It's just west of the expressway but if you're not NYC savy don't try it! I'd get off and at the bottom of the ramp park on the right shoulder/curb (watch those parking signs and driveway doors) and walk down to Metropolitan turn left and it's 3 blocks down on the left called Fette Sau at 354 Metropolitan. It's in an old car repair shop, You pay by the pound, they have great beer and bourbon! The tables are picnic tables and meeting people is fun! A little expensive but well worth it for the setting!

The real secret about good BBQ as any good Southerner will tell you is if you can't smell it outside then it ain't BBQ! You can actually smell the BBQ out side this place!

Now if you want to know more about that area which is my favorite area in NYC PM me and I'll fill you in! It looks like I won't be parking there for a long time if ever! But as I said many times this is a great area to layover! So what if it's not a truck stop! And Williamsburg used to be a "dive" but it's in a rebuild stage and the trash has been taken out so knocks on the door doesn't happen!
