Well, if your at 69 hours you got one hour to drive to wherever and then you can unload/load your truck by hand until next March and it's ok, you just can drive. Same with 11/14. If you started your log book at 6am you can not drive past 8pm that night, even if you only drove for an hour, you cant drive past your 14th hour.
breaking the 70 hour rule

Chrisn,
Get the little regulation book out, and study it !!!
It WILL save you thousands of dollars, eventually !!! -
There are a lot of things we do "on duty" that do not include turning that key in the ignition. Loading/unloading was mentioned, truck inspections, classes, anything you do connected to work that does not include moving your truck. You are legal to do all that stuff past your 70. But don't turn a tire.

and its never got me a log violation.....EVER. If i'm at home, hand washing my truck, you think i'm on line 4? -
Its your call dude however if something happens to you while driving on the road after your 70 hrs are up, be prepared for a huge law suit. Thats if your involved in a serious incident.
-
You are allowed to be 'on duty' until infinity... you just CANNOT DRIVE once you hit 70 hours until you either take 10 consecutive hours off duty OR you take a 34 hour reset. But even if you are at the 70 hour mark you ARE ALLOWED to be on duty NOT driving as long as you want.
