I agree with pro1...wow that was odd....you need to figure out if trucking is for you or not before making the large purchase of a truck. anouther benifit of experiance is when you screw up and you will....it wont bankrupt you, it might ding your DAC report but not put you in the poorhouse.

yeah...........but you need to learn how to crawl before you can walk.......and you need to learn how to walk before you can run........

    hey, good luck to you............

i'll be going to the bank cashing my paychecks.............

you'll be going to the "bank" ruptcy court to plead your case...........

gotta luv those who want to run and leave out all the learning (of crawling and walking) first.............

Come on guys, lets face it, nowadays buyng a truck(average used) its like "almost" buying a car...(average used). Now if 99% can afford a car which is a totaly passive expence whats can go "that wrong" with a comm. truck. Im 29 yrs old, i believe this is time to take some chance in life!

you can do this in a number of ways....
#1 get your cdl on your own....its how i did it but theres problems with it...such as finding a truck to use, someone who knows the RIGHT way to do things and teach you, and finding time to practice driving
    #2 go to a cdl school...easier i guess
#3 hire to a company that will train you...easiest i think...get the training and a job? I wish i had done it that way

NOW that you have a CDL...where to work..

if you went with option #1, basicly no matter where you hire on they will make you get retrained or a refresher course just becuase they cant validate your training, then expect alot of time with a trainer.

if option #2...some time with a trainer is about it i would think

if option #3...why are you worried...they already gave you a job

    car engine-$3000 to repair
truck engine-$14000 and up to repair

10 yr old car miles- 150,000
10 yr old truck miles- 1,500,000

easiest way to explain it is miles wear things out...an big trucks cost big bucks to fix

you are comparing apples to oranges. you should be comparing one owner operator agianst another, and you ain't.

you obviously don't know what you are doing. you have much to learn, but you think you know it all now.

i am in cdl school. JUst passed pretrip, friday im going for skills. Drivin a truck is like driving a car, just a lot bigger.I dont think must have that special skills, just common sense.

he doesn't even know the difference between a car and a big rig, he thinks he knows it all becaused he passed his "pre-trip inspection test".......

let him go.............i'll be laughing at him while i'm cashing my paycheck, and he's cashing his unemployment check, after filing for bankruptcy.

he "knows it all now, he's a trucking school student".............
