I sure as hell wasn't bragging about breaking the rules. Read back as to what I said. I said "it sucks, and it isn't fair"
I am an O/O I dont have to follow company rules. Nobody PUSHES me into making a delivery, nobody pushes me into anything. I haven't had a log book violation for years [knock on wood] and I do my very darnedest to keep it that way.
Name calling from a professional? Pretty sad, when somebody tries to help you understand what trucking is really like you have to resort to calling them a prostitute. How very professional of you! Hope you don't lose your cool first time a shipper or receiver treats you like a sub par human. They will, they'll do it often, and fair wont matter. Guess what? You fire back like you just did to me, and you'll be out of a job so fast your head will spin. They wont even buy ya a greyhound ticket. Wont matter to them how much of a professional you have deemed yourself to be.
Have you ever even seen a lot lizard? If you had, you'd know that's a really sick thing to call anybody.

bottom line really is theres a difference between BENDING the rules a little, and completely disregarding them. when your out there you will find times, for example, where its easier to fiddle with your log a wee bit than have to tell a customer or dispatcher your going to be late. as long as you havnt been driving for 11 hours and ready to pass out, or are just logging outlandish bs thats going to get you busted, its never going to hurt anything and no one but you will ever know the difference.
again im not big on it myself, but just to back these guys a little no ones logs are ever going to be 100% all the time. -

Think about it, your a student giving sermons to people who have driven for years and know what trucking is all about. You have no practical knowledge of trucking.
I mean c´mon. You think you´re really going to log 100% truthful log book. You´re going to log that 10 minute rest area piss stop?
You been out 3 weeks, got a home run load. Are you going to log that 4 hours you waited to be loaded that morning and sit 200 miles from home? No, you´re not. You´re going to go home.
And you keep talking about always follow the rules. Many rules are about revenue, not safety. For example, the 53´ trailer used to be illegal in many states. I went to pick up a load in a drop yard. It was a 53´ trailer in a state where 53´ trailers were illegal.
I told my dispatcher, ¨this is a 53´ trailer¨ I wanted to cover myself. I was told to go ahead and take the load. If I got caught the company would pay my fine. Now, do I refuse the load? No, I don´t. I took it. Is a 53´ trailer unsafe? No they´re not. Yes, I was breaking the rules but I wasn´t being unsafe. Do you see what I´m saying?
I´m just curious walstib, do you feel comfortable driving a big truck? I mean maybe you´re a bit hysterical about everything because you´re not comfortable driving yet. ¨Oh my god! If I forget to check my airhorn on pre trip the trucks going to fall apart going down the road!¨ That kinda thing.
Have a look at your ¨professional¨ work enviroment dude. Did you see this in the advertisements? Oh my, I think someones breaking the rules here!!

Bragging assumes you're proud of what you're declaring. I have never once met a trucker who was happy about having to falsify logs much less proud of it.
I would dare say that 99.9999% of us would be more than happy to be able to run legal 100% of the time if doing so meant we wouldn't be putting our jobs and/or our ability to get the miles we need to make a living in jeopardy.
But with all due respect, don't you dare point your lofty finger at me and bring my level of professionalism into question even for a moment. I've got more professionalism in the excrement I flush down the toilet every day than most folks will ever hope to have in lifetime. I take a tremendous amount of pride in what I do. But I also have mouths to feed and a mortgage to cover and I do what I have to do in order to make that happen.
Do I run illegal? Yes I do. But not very often I'm happy to say. And I purposely selected the job I have at least in part because of that. You want to call me jerk for doing that? Go ahead. You want to label me as part of problem? Knock yourself out.
But you if you want to call me anything less than professional because of it, well sir all I can say is you'd better be willing to walk a mile or a thousand in my shoes first and then show me exactly how it can be done 100% of the time from your lofty perch. There is a difference between accepting reality and being proud of it. None of us are proud of it. But some of us accept it for what it is and work within it the best that we can.
I'm sure you've heard that adage about having the serenity to accept what you can't change and the courage to change what you can and the wisdom to know the difference. Reality is what it is. If you want to prove that its something different then bring it. If you can't, then keep your criticism to yourself. -
Gremlin. I'd already posted to you that I was NOT criticizing you nor accusing you. I was commenting on your post. I thought your post was a good one. sheesh
