Backing a trailer is a no-brainer breeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah that IS true, no matter how many years of experience we have, some days you think you're back in school on the first day of backing up...!~!!!

i wouldn't stop informing us about anything. i know the trials and tribulations students go through. i know that smile on their face when they get the maneuver down finally. i know the sweating students do, even in sub-zero temps...!!!!

in this industry bud you always have to think positively or the negative will kick u in the ballz when u least expect it i run legal always and i get a descent check every week thats after all the bills are paid so im not complaining....

 

Indoor docks from city streets,have fun in NYC and Chicago. Shippers/receivers that couldn't buy that extra ten feet... a lot of truckstops that do the same, combined with people that can't be bothered to back properly... yeah it gets fun eventually.

Keep up the good work, though. it took me forever to figure out backing. somehow I got my cdl before I was able to back properly, so I taught myself during a 34. Once it clicked I was much happier. Some days I can do a u turn back in one shot, some days I can't pull through to save my life. That's the way it goes I guess. Gotta keep practicing.

 

Where I drive, the only place I see its full use is at some of the rest areas where there is not angle parking.
I always avoid them as I have never had practice with the spread axle doing a full parallel park.
I of course have to use parts of it all the time.(not sure if that came out clearly or not)

 

Had that at US Steel yesterday. You just keep backing in as they jam 5 trucks in there. You have to get close enough to the left side so they can load you with a fork lift, but you can not get too close or you do not have any room to adjust as you go all the way back into the docks.

 

Yeah,the good old backing thing.It takes most of us quite a while to get it down pat.Course there are a few that seem to pick it up right away.Then on the other hand there are those that never catch on to it.After a little while,I found that it was an easy task,but you always have to be aware of your surroundings and yes get a good setup before ytou back up.So for most of us its,practice,practice,and practice some more.

 

Oh yeah,when I first started out,an old timer told me it is just like pushing a wheelbarrow,so think about it,he was right.

 

My biggest hurdle was getting used to the spread axle. It is so different than the tandems.

 

Anyone ever meet a dock/receiving area that they couldn't get backed into?
