Kittyfoot, have they found the cause of the hemoglobin drop yet? We went through this with my mom back in August. With her in OK and me in CA. Yeah, I know the feeling of not being able to get there. It leaves you scared as hell, frustrated and not knowing what to do!
Let her know she is in my prayers.
Something to Consider.

Alright folks, lets calm down and stop with the insults and threats.
GuysLady Thanks this. -
Our house was hit by a tornado one sunday morning as my husband was headed out the door. He couldn't stop, couldn't stay and help me couldn't do anything for his own family. Why? Because he was a cop and he was on duty. He had to go on out and take care of others.
Sometimes we don't all have the liberty to drop our jobs and rush home. Kittyfoot and his wife made the decision together. TOGETHER.....in THEIR marriage.
And frankly that is more important than someone's judgemental opinion on a forum.Hitman, rocknroll nik, Jarhed1964 and 5 others Thank this. -
The point he made is an important one though. Whether 400 or 4000 miles away there will be times something happens at home that we will not be able to get back to as soon as you would like.Mastertech, Texas-Nana and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
By rolling that truck down the highway when you are not legally allowed to do so, you are risking HUGE FINES, OOS ORDERS, JAIL TIME, and potentially your life and the lives of others around you...
I cannot judge other wives in this situation.. but I can tell you I have been in the hospital, hooked up to a heart monitor, with my hubby 250 miles away, and not legal to run.
My thinking was this..
"We are gonna have one huge hospital bill.. and if he gets caught running so illegal, the best we can hope for is a huge fine. We can't pay both. If he lands in jail, then he's out of a job, and we can't pay the bill.. AND THAT IS THE BEST WE CAN HOPE FOR! What if he has an accident while running illegal? That creates a horrible mess! I would rather he just wait and run it somewhat legal!"
If she needed to get to the hospital ASAP, and absolutley could not drive herself, she should have called for an ambulance.SweetSouthernRide, Texas-Nana and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
Kitty...I am glad to hear she is feeling better and I am sorry about the stress it put you both under. It is a constant worry for drivers out here leaving their loved ones at home. My youngest daughter ended up getting sick a couple of months ago and was rushed to the hospital in Alabama. I got the phone call in Oregon, so I understand how frustrated and hopeless you feel when all you can do is wait on the next phone call to know how they are until you can get back to them. I was lucky enough my company flew me home to be with her. Best of luck to you and your wife
rocknroll nik and Texas-Nana Thank this. -
He wasn't here the night Daddy passed on. He was in WY...
We made the decision for him to be OTR together. Local work was not paying enough to keep things running. And though it meant alot of work for me and Melva, we made it through it.Texas-Nana and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
Thanks for those who understand... for the rest...
Barb has always been anemic and 2 years ago we had her tested with everything the doc's could think of and eliminated every disease they could think of.... and then some. This was right after she'd got chemical poisoning from.... of all things.... the chemicals used to make a "new fesh scent" in a pail of Cat Litter.
With this last episode, when we talked neither of us knew about the criticality of her condition. They didn't tell us that part until later. The "decision to wait" was based on the "we need you to go get a transfusion" message alone and we both discussed it. Neither of us was aware of the danger she was in.
Talked to management after the fact about what would have happened if I had blown straight home. Even though they "understood", yes I would have been fired and lost my $1000 safety bonus.... and had a hell of a time getting hired by any other tanker outfit. God help me if I'd had an accident on the way. Huge lawsuit, quite possible jail time.... and as an non-citizen.... deportation forever. Not as simple as some would paint it.
There are those here who are so wrapped up in themselves and their own supposed importance that they run their mouths without benefit of working brain. Yes, this is a true happening. I've seen drivers in worse circumstances, including a child killed while they were thousands of miles away.
My purpose is indeed to let the newbies and wannabes know that they themselves may one day face a similar problem and to seriously think about how they feel about that before they join us.
Again, thank you to those who include us in your prayers. God Bless You All.GuysLady, JustSonny, Texas-Nana and 4 others Thank this. -
