Backing a trailer is a no-brainer breeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and the loader loaded you a little too heavy...are you going to go dump and get back in line behind 25 or 30 trucks?

The loader, the guy in the backhoe, front end loader, the hopper you´re pulling under, etc.

Some people are like you.... I had two male partners, one was a Cuban, former jet pilot for Fidel Castro. The guy had only a few months experience and he could back like a pro, anywhere, any tight spots, any tiny parking lot, it was no problem for him. Then I had another team partner, a Mexican guy with only one month experience and he also could back anywhere with no problem. These guys were able to understand the space they had and how to manouver the truck.
I also had several other partners. The females I had - 3 - they were all bad backers who would take forever to back and many times would ask me to do the backing for them.
But I am not a good backer at all and may never be a good one. Had a chargeable right after I finished my 6 month mandatory teaming at company and started solloing. Truck stops scare me and I don't park there at night in the dark, only worst case scenario. I know if I don't practice, will not get better but I still get very nervous and afraid backing between trucks, in the dark, when there are several other impatient trucks trying to move....
One day, 2 years ago, I damaged the tarp of a truck while backing next to it... Gave the driver $ 500.00 cash right there to fix it and never report it...
I am very thankful I don't have to go to these nasty places in NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, etc, etc where you guys go... I would be totally screwed if I had. Most of the shippers in the account I am are in nice, clean places, with ample space to do the backing and we always get the best docks and times when there are less trucks. All our deliveries go to WalMart distribution centers where there's A LOT of space to back between trailers.

I am afraid of what I will get when I go to another company....

walstib, you come off as terribly ####y. I have been in and out of trucking for nearly 20 years. I still get butterflies when I have a challenging new dock to back into.

The caves in KC will make you wanna scream at the walls. Places so tight you can NOT even get out of the truck until they come out and tell ya their done unloading. You cant even crawl out the windows at a few places in Chicago, after backing down a 100 yard alley with 1' of clearance on either mirror! Yard mules at places like Associated Grocers zooming around you at break neck speeds (dozens of them) while you try to back in between a brand new $150K Pete and a wall at 3am with 4 other trucks waiting for you to back so they can do the same. Don't look like a rookie or they'll start honking their horns up at you to hurry the hell up. They wont get out and help ya either, lol not hardly. Don't F it up, or your fired. How about backing across traffic on a busy highway. Nobody cares how much of a professional you think you are, no cop is gonna stop and help you. You'll be on your own. Did we even discuss blind side backing?

On and on the examples go, but you have found those little orange cones easy.

too much to read hear tonight after the first page or two, just wanted to ad a comment, when i was in school i had major issues shifting, couldnt get used to the double clutching, but i loved backing. it was no problem. then i get out and in my first time out i was at a paper mill in texas, you pull in facing the docks,there was one dock left in the corner,blind side backing in with a tight fit, and a building in front of it, that wasnt fun real world is so different.

i still hate blind side backing, get out and look alot, it helps
