You need to put the truck on a dyno and reproduce the problem under a load. CAT is having some bad rebuilt injector on the market and I'm wondering if you have had multiple injector problems. Also I ran across someone that had a restrited return fuel line that was restriting fuel flow considerably. The truck maintained good fuel pressure, but had low flow.........the injectors need flow also, as this acts as a coolant for the injector body. He was having injectors fail every 2-3000 miles

how much fuel should flow thru motor?
changed check valve in sec fuel filter head -seems to help a lot, changed in feb. went bad in april, put old one back in ,(april).
replaced transfer pump, put in new relief valve, pressure 105@ 1800 rpm
i agree with bad injectors-they replaced 6 then they checked serial#s and said to replace #3
took it to cat dist. they put it on dyno replaced#6,n.g.took it back they changed #1 &#2 ng, took it back yhey changed #4 &5 because they were only changed once. they said they could not duplicate problem on dyno,

Roughly 100 Gallons Per Hour for fuel flow through the engine. The engine at full load will burn 26-30 GPH depending on the power rating.

How much do you think they will burn at idle (700rpm) and at high idle (1200rpm)?

I think CAT says they'll burn .8 GPH at 700 RPM, but real world is around 1 GPH. At 1200 RPM...........I'm going to guess at about 1.5 GPH.

If it's cold out and it needs to idle for heat.........1200 is were I'd idle it to maintain water temperature above 160 degrees

I heard its better on everything to idle at 1200. We have all our trucks set at 1200 but don't let the guys idle very long, they got espar and webasto bunk heaters
