I am not so sure about that earn your stripes working class mentality crap in the classroom. I would venture to say that a reputable college or university/training facility doesn't have teachers that behave in such a primitive manner. I worked for 18 years in the health field and trained many people, and the people I trained always absorbed what they were taught when they were respected and treated as adults.
Now when you get in the truck with a company trainer, I can understand a little smack talk..but still...you'll get better results without adding anger and frustration to the mix..which to me doesn't seem to be a good combination behind the wheel of a tractor trailer. -
I know that of my class of 20 only about 10 of us are still drivers. I know that because I take my truck and trailer by my old school now and then to chat with the instructors as well as talk to the new students.
Most of what I see on here is just good natured ribbing. Take the fact that many of us are away from our families for very long times and interaction with similar people can be few and far between. We poke fun at each other. It happened ALL the time when I was in IT as well as when I was working as an Electricians Apprentice. If you cannot understand that or even handle it go back to your bubble. -
Well, I rather think good solid professional drivers are like marines.....they're never an "ex".
I know my brothers no longer drive yet I'd say their opinions based on a combined 60+ years of experience is pretty darn solid. -
Everett and Texas-Nana Thank this.

Alot of us, OK a few of us are just ########!
We don't mean it personal most of the time but sometimes we do because we try to get through to newbs and they think they know everything and only want us to agree with them instead of telling them the truth. We help but we are also blunt and to the point and sometimes that comes off as we are ########. If your skin isn't thick enough to get past that and see what we are telling you then that's not our problem. It is what it is. I've met several people from this forum in person and on the phone and have become friends with them. Others I wouldn't give the time of day in person or the phone. It's nothing personal I can just tell from what they say on here whether we would click personality wise or not.
As BlackW900's sig says trucking ain't for sissies. And no I'm not calling you a sissy I'm just sayin.Texas-Nana, JustSonny and Les2 Thank this. -
