You must have had a good week with a load that fell into the week. I think my highest mileage check with one laggard load was for about 4900 miles and yes, it was a fat check.

Here's a breakdown of one of my recent paystubs (pre-tax earnings) as an o/o. There are two checks here for one week. The second check was for doing some extra crap for my DM on one of the loads. Also, my fuel expenses were higher than what I want. I run solo and don't do all that much special. What you're not seeing is the following week after the checks below (last week) which was a bad week. I ended up doing close to two 34s last week. So some of the following plus some of this current week has to make up for the bad week. I thought I'd share so others can see what an o/o breakdown looks like realistically. I've been able to have these checks at least 3 of four weeks a month and a third that is somewhere between $300 - $700 unless they keep me rolling hard. The problem is the balancing act - keeping enough money in the bank to buouy the bad weeks. And just for reference, the following is not indicative of what you will make as a l/o or o/o. There are a ton of variables in the mix here so your experience may vary (hopefully better as I believe my experience is relatively mediocre)

That is why we try to caution you new guys about leasing! You just don't get it until it happens to you! However new shiny truck always trumps advice and good common sense! Imagine what that pay check looks like when he is broke down for a few days or even just shut down a day for weather. Maybe he can post a pay stub from when he went home for a few days.
Thanks again sporkman for posting that!

In most cases you will make the same money each year as a company driver as a lease OP.
It is a gamble, like in any business.
If you are lucky you will come out ahead at the end of the year and make up to 18k more for the year than a company driver. But remember, most lease Op's do not go home as often as company drivers, they cannot afford the negative checks.

I was full OTR with Central my first 7 months or so with the company. I was taking home around 800-1000 per week. This was even when I was receiving only new driver pay.
Then I went on Kraft Dedicated, which at the time was .40 cpm.
At that point I was taking home 1000-1200 per week. Unless I went home for a few days that week and it would be less.
Then I got on a dedicated run. Thru the house 1 time each week for a night and I would take off 1 weekend per month. I ran 3200 miles per week on my run, took home 1000 per week. This was all as a company driver.

So the money is there. If you run, communicate well and always get 100% ontime service.
If you do not do these things you will not make money.

    Hey you lease Op's.
Someone is selling Tri-Pac's in the Classified section. Asking 3,000 each.
They have 4, and they are low hours units.
Not a bad deal at all.

You're welcome. I posted this one because it runs around somewhere around average. My fuel expenses were a tad higher than I wanted but I'm fine with $1400 for the week.

    -----
AF461 - No, I had a $1400 paycheck. The $200 at the bottom was an adjustment on a load that was fubar from when they gave it to me to getting it delivered. So $1200 + $200 or so is about $1400 and change.

    ----

Oh, and Chrome dome is right - note that in order to keep the truck running, I've been home once since May for about 4 days. The check I got after returning for the time I was off was $-500. But I had a killer two weeks following to make up for it. I was crackin another driver up when he asked where I was from. I pointed to the truck and said "there".

Is it all worth it? For the most part, I like it. It is not something I plan on doing forever. But it is paying down a lot of debt I had piled up from being unemployed. Sure, I could jump ship to another company that pays better. But I'm comfortable doing what I'm doing here and generally know the cycle. I'm in a palatable groove that I can deal with riding out for now and the loose predictability is nice.

But as I noted before and as Chrome Dome pointed out as well, don't look at the final amount as good or bad - you have to take in the bad weeks as well.
