I spoke with stevens told them of the situation. They said as long as I could answer the questions and have no work restriction I should be fine. I like to line up my ducks before I run them over. Hope to see everybody out there soon. Be safe.

One year ago, I wrote about Stevens meeting its promise as advertised. Well, things have changed. I've had an extremely bad month, changed trucks to fix it and lost technology on the truck that had become a part of my business. Just moments ago, a remedy to fix it has also been removed. My average miles/day for the last month went from 550 - 600 has dropped to less than 350. The promise is gone.
In addition, the "warts" previously spoken of have grown. The company is fast becoming one big wart. Broken promises, ridiculous charges for normal wear and tear on a truck including paint adhesion problems on parts that stevens painted. (will be fighting this one)
I had asked to be home on November 2, they tried to send me home too early to be there and now I'm having trouble getting home.
when I get there, I will be lightening the load on this truck to only absolutely necessary items in preparation for a bus ride to my new employer. My income over the last two months? $1900. That's it.
there are also some external issues.
The new truck mileage was expected and represented to be similar performance to my last truck but higher speed. The mpg is 20% less. I have at least a $50/week new expense for DEF and a higher truck payment. Add to this the unlikelihood of a repeal of obamacare, tax increases coming 1099 issues attached to healthcare, I am seeking a competent employer.
other promises broken.
Stevens like other companies "saved itself" from diesel fuel prices by lowering the speed of trucks to 62 from 65 mph. This took potential money out of the pockets of company drivers to maintain its profits. They've also put an end to their pet policy and I believe this benefit leprosy will continue.
so my advise? Stevens is a good place to get your training, but when you can. leave and find a better place that will keep its promises and more smartly buy equipment. -

The KW 700 in my opinion, and others in the industry is a piece of junk, and NOT living up to the promises.
I have to agree that the warts at Stevens are growing...as the kids take over the company.
I Know you will do well wherever you go. -
How much energy, time and money is spent each and every day due to poor planning, and matching of trucks to loads? Yea I am just a driver, but Stevens wastes lots of time and money getting trucks to relay loads. -

True Kirk, but there are plenty of trucks in and around Dodge KS.
Just as there were plenty of trucks in Amarillo.... and my 2 1/2 day adventure with meat dispatch, trying to give me a load that delivers on Tuesday, in LA, a mere 1050 miles and 5 days. Load was change 6 times over the next 2 days, and I got the same LA run 3 times. Finally got dispatched to NH for a Monday delivery, a good productive load.
And the attitude of drivers that don't think they should have to bump docks, well I will be nice, and just say, that is part of what you are paid for. Running the miles off a load, and then sticking some other driver with the delivery, is BS.
