You bought a 09 tractor with a million miles on it and someone leased you on?
That should have told you something right there!
You bought an old POS truck and had no operating capital, especially after a divorce for the breakdown you knew was going to happen? If you didn't think this POS wouldn't then you're spending to much time in the mountains of CA.
Sorry sixdog, but this is not the place for hugs and shoulders!
I have no idea how long it's been since you were an O/O but it's been a while since any company "loaned" an O/O money unless the O/O had an escrow account. Now these fleece deals will be glad to "loan" you money! Minus the vasoline.
If this company did short you why didn't you catch it on your statements when you got them? Did you not look at them? or was the check good enough?
And as for the company trying to get THEIR freight delivered I can see that after it's 3 weeks late? This is almost something you see on comedy central!
If you're such a, as you put it, "top producer" where is the savings account you should have been depositing to, to cover another breakdown of that almost 10 year old and million plus mile truck? Do you think it's going to hold together another 50,000 with no trips to a shop?
I think you need to get a CPA to handle your money as somewhere you're dropping the ball. And really get rid of that old POS and try for something newer or go company and save before you try to be an O/O again. Times changed and well so do you. This sounds too much like living pay check to pay check and throwing the statements on the floor.

Ok let me try this again. What they are doing is moving things around in the settelments. They FORGET things like escort and permit charges,Give you a settelment for the run and then turn around and backcharge 3 times what have normaly been the fee because they forgot. They are doing this to O/O and agents! They bury things in code on the settelments,Deductions mainly and when you try to get them to explain it they tell you it was a deduction you took ten loads ago that never got deducted.I have a Bookkeeper and he has been perplexed at the system they are using,But if you read my post you would see i had a Broker on the hook with me and pulling the truck was not an option.I should have but i dont burn friends. There are a lot of things they are doing that are unexplainable.I have been an owner operator for 23 years and i have seen a lot of things but this is something else.As i stated before many O/O are leaving Mason dixon because they bought them,There reasons are A:Bookkeeping B:M/D is not the company it was,you can get no help of any kind from them LIKE YOU COULD BEFORE! I Know that in the past just about every carrier would help there O/O if they needed it and was doing a good job for them.I have been told by Universal that that is why they went under(Old Companys). That is a load of Bull! If schnieder can run 8500 trucks and do repairs and such and stay afloat then why is it that Universal with 7500 +/- trucks can not help there O/O?What they are doing is leaching off of the O/O and not giving back anything, not to mention the slip sheet bookwork.Top producer yes,Money no because of their paper work.Call them on it and it takes days to get an answer.I have settelment sheets showing where i start at $4500.00 on a run,Minus 25 % to UNI then from there it starts a long drop with codes like b/x-$150.00 B/T-$250.00 and so on and so forth, some i know like B/t Bobtail but others you have to get them to explain and they will shuffle you from person to person trying to get an answer.By the time you are paid it is either 0 or an amount under 500.00 dollars.Did i know my truck would breakdown? You bet.Did i think i was a good enough runner to be ready for it?you Bet.Did i count on running into the biggest Bunch of crooks ive ever seen?NO.

Everything you are saying sounds like blaming someone else for your problems. Maybe YOU didn't do enough research before leasing on. Maybe YOU had personal problems. Maybe YOU paid too much for an old truck. Maybe YOU didn't set aside enough to cover a breakdown. My take...you should not be an independent contractor because you are unable to manage your affairs. Being an ind cont means taking care of maintenance, and managing your cash flow to operate a successful business.

I am not blaming noone but myself,What i am doing is warning other people trying to start up as ownerops to stay away.It is Funny because i was just sitting in a truckstop listening to two drivers talking about a company and one said the owner was great,he lost a Tranny and told the owner he was headed Home in low range,Owner said nonsense pull into this shop and when he got there they put in new tranny, owner told him how about a $100.00 a week on payback?Thats the old school way of doing things, everyone has down times and not all of us are born with silver spoons as you appear Cpape,we are just trying to survive in a world that is constantly changing to a servants mentality.I just noticed that you are not even a Trucker cpape.Any relation to pape machinery?Just askin.

sitting in a truckstop listening to two drivers talking
now theres something new.
If you need to be bailed out to fufill your contract then you should not be entering into a contract to provide a service. Nothing to do with the SILVER spoon and no it is not the OLD SCHOOL WAY, unless your talking SHARE CROPPING , or MINING and always in dedt to the COMPANY STORE. . -
It blows my mind that companies even do advances anymore. If I was broke that bad I wouldnt leave the house. Come on man you bought a truck and now you are complaining because your customer wont help fix your truck. I bet you think the government should pay your house payment to.
If you are leased on to a company they ARE your customer period. If you dont understand that your not going to make it. They dont owe you anything. -
That point about advances Im not talking about special circumstances. I understand things happen and a guy needs some quick cash for a couple of days and needs to eat. I have seen guys advance $100 week in week out. No need for that.

Wrong Bamanation. That is new teaching,Some companys today have NO FRIEGHT or Customers of there own, such is the case with universal. They live off of the AGENTS who have the Frieght and the Trucker who hauls it.
