buddy we got the experience and know how of how these companies operate, you got what....??? nothing.....

you "hid" the truth from your company, when you SHOULD HAVE SAID, "so and so was driving"........

like we are basically all in agreement, the truck was damaged, you didn't tell your boss, as a team, you should both be fired.

new truck, old truck, it don't matter...the truck WAS STILL DAMAGED and companies take a very dim view of the cost of repairs.

"it wasn't me"...you say, "it wasn't me" he says......??

    what's a boss to do....??

fire the 2 of you, end of future problems for him but getting DAC'd BIG TIME for you your troubles are ahead of you.

and how the hell deep was that pothole to dent a step so high up off the ground...?? do you realize the fuel tank is probably dented as well, cutting down the amount of fuel it can take now....???for the step to be dented, the tank took a hit too.....!!!

if you get fired, its your fault, and unemployment does not pay out when you are at fault for being fired...!!!

Not telling the WHOLE truth is still a lie. Truth is your co-driver hit a pothole and you failed to say that.. If your supervisor found the damage and it wasn't listed on your post-trip inspection then you lied on the post trip. If you didn't note the damage on your next Pre-Trip you lied on the pre-trip..

Minor damage to the step??? That was one mighty deep pothole!! Possible, but tough to believe!!

Bottom line is you lied.. Here or then!!

So tell us "What is the rest of this story?"

But you say you knew what happened. Half-truth, sin of omission and all that. You lied because you didn't tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Once I figured out that I wasn't going to learn who was driving when it happened, I'd have had to let you both go. Man, you took on a whole lot more than you had to. If it wasn't you, then it was him and he should have a problem, not you. Is he as concerned as you are? I don't know if "the truth will set you free," but it'll ####-sure save your butt.

Rerun,Celtic, and AC I believe all three of you summed up exactly what everyone has been trying to say to Blaze. I think the whole problem is that we did not say what he wanted to hear. We did not agree and take sides with him. On the lying by omission....if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck then by God it's a dang duck! :biggrin_25515:

you know gal, a long, long time ago, i am sure i did what he did.......but not as a driver, but as a junior high school then high school, then trade school student........those "years of my life"....

did i ever suffer any consequences...?? you bet your bippy i did......and SEVERELY when "the truth was found"

    what did I LEARN.....back then.......??

"fess up real quick, so the punishment will be less severe or even NON-EXISTENT".....!!

to this day i live by that rule in my work and home life. if i screw up at work, and God knows the times i did, i told the boss, in effect ratting myself out......

why chance a severe consequence when the boss finds out i did something and hid it or lied about it....???

i can honestly say, i have scratched a few trucks in my time, ran up to the boss, told him, showed him, and in fact, one day he yelled at me for bothering him..........!!!!! he wanted to smack me upside the head because the scratch was so small, and i took him away from his desk.....

so what I LEARNED many, many years ago is this, "fess up right away, take a quick licking, be done with it".......surprisingly (or not) i have found that being up front and honest, the punishment....??? very often does not materialize....

Very true Rerun. I try to live by that code myself. I will not lie to you even if it's what you wanna hear. If you ask me something I will ask you first are you sure you want me to tell you. I take pride in my vehicles including my truck even though it is not mine on paper. If you take pride in it and let someone know right away if it does get messed up the consequences 9 times out of 10 will be less severe.
