Man, I know freights slow but that's ridiculous! You would think this being the busy season that you guys would be rolling non-stop. I mean I know you get those occasional shorties or multiples but that is crazy! I know times are different but when we were with Central we had a planner. He literally drove us ragged! (Mark C###k) He was a super guy though! Well it sucks to be out there when it's like that. Feels like you are wasting your time. Hopefully things will pick up for you guys. Good luck, drive safely!

Nope, you will hit like .30 at the end of the first year, if I remember correctly.

today i finally gave up on putting my trl into a door and had the yard dog do it for me.... at walmart 6047 in bedford, pa the freezer doors 139-143 have a big propane tank in the way off to the side slightly. Directly in front of the doors you have a dumpster, a carport with a tractor and sand in it for the snow and some barriers next to that. take all that and add the walmart and schneider drivers going past you to the schneider area and the yard dogs speeding across the yard. 139 is fairly simple and they get more difficult up to 143 because of the propane tank. I was dreading the day i would get one of these doors... Whoever designed the DC this way needs to be shot.

This is what says on an email sent to me from Central. When I calculated 2500*.28*52, it turns out to be 36,400. So if as Chompi says when you start out you get 20k-25k, does that mean you are getting a lot less miles than promised?

this is from the central web site

    SOLO COMPANY DRIVER PAY

    EXPERIENCEPAY PER MILE*0 - 6 Months$.286 - 12 Months$.291 - 2 Years$.302 - 3 Years$.3053 - 4 Years$.314 - 5 Years$.315
    Driver will receive pay increases
after 5 years with continued employment.
    * 8¢ in each per mile rate is per diem, which is not taxed. Your take home pay is approximately 2¢ more per mile at each rate.
so you make .30 then .31 then .32 at one year
so if you can make 2500 per 7 day week at .30 is 750 per week take home after taxes any deductions for your benifits are going to cost you 85$ per week that brings you to 665.00
if you get 3000x.30 your at 900. per week minus benifits for a family of 85 and you got 815.

if you can get these miles thats not bad as long as you dont take any time off if you want to take a day off you have to figure out what that day, on aveage is going to cost you for example 2500 devided by 7 is 357...357 times .30 is 110 so one day off is going to cost you 110.00 each and every week that you want to take a day off and now you have to get 2500 miles in 6 day not seven now you have to get 417 miles per day to make the same 750.00 per week now that 110 for a day off is 125.oo ..so you need to have that 125x1 or 2 or three every month if you want to go home and kiss the wife and kids no 125.oo no time home that you can afford i plan to start a saving acct to have the wife put that 125. in so when she gets it to where she wants to have me home i can call central and ask.... kind of like the worlds oldest profession ..pay me and i will come.....home that is

3-4 times a month, more if you swap drivers without setting yourself off duty first

He the NE planner? That guy gives me a migraine almost every time I go into his area. Although to be fair, he had us do a trailer shuttle and a local once, and we got paid correctly for both.

    Lupe.

Since you're 21 and live near Detroit, I think it'd be worth your time to at least check out Job Corps. http://detroit.jobcorps.gov/home.aspx

Free training and job placement assistance sounds like a much better deal than what Central has to offer. ( IMHO)

Disclaimer: Nothing against central, I got my CDL through them and it's all worked out great, but YMMV. :)
