OTR Drivers, why do you hate to use turn signals?

Made a run the other day from Denver to Idaho Falls and back. One thing I noticed time and again, no one uses turn signals. Now granted I have a fast truck (77 mph 76mph cruise) so I don't get passed very often. But one thing I noticed of the trucks that I did see pop out in front of me, less than half use turn signals.

One truck popped out on me when I was car length from his back doors. I laid on the horns and #####ed at him on the CB, only to be told to screw off. When I asked why he didn't use his turn signals to indicate he wanted over, he told me he didn't have to. Unfortunately for him, he drove for a large carrier (one that is supposedly more respectable) that had a large HOW'S MY DRIVING? sign on the back of the trailer. Well, I called and told them how his driving was.

It wasn't only when changing lanes that I noticed this, but even when making turns. Look people, these things aren't dealer installed options that companies forget to order, they come pre-installed from the factory, learn how to use them or go back to school.

Hell, a lot of 'em have to balance a cell phone, coffee mug, and pen...doesn't leave a free hand to communicate effectively.

But I hear ya...deterioration is clearly evident in the quality of "professionals".

This is such a rhetorical question - some people use them, a lot of people don't. Complaining about it isn't going to make the people that don't use them start to, so it's pointless.

More and more people are taking the "well no one else uses them so why should I?" stance. All you can do is continue to use them yourself and drive correctly.

I always say to myself "What a professional" when one just jumps in front of me like that.

Reaching you hand down, flipping that little lever takes a lot of time. Probably too distracting to some drivers. lol

I agree with what someone else said....I forget to turn them off more times than not.

Using turn signals or not, simply comes down to: are you a 'professionaly trained', 'courteous' driver.......or.......???
