Was waiting for my load to be ready at the Morris, IL. Costco DC. So i take my dog for a walk, and come back to the truck. See there are a couple messages on my qualcomm, and i missed a couple cell phone calls. The QC message was from my DM saying, "Plz call me ASAP". So i call him, and he tells me that the VP of ops of the midwest division wanted to talk to me. So we talk for the next 40 min. about an email i sent to Richard Stocking. The email i sent was in regards to the info they were asking about on the Kiosk survey, that would never go thru for me. The email was pretty harsh regarding "if i would recommend the lease program to anybody". I didnt say yes or no...i just said, "depending on the time of the week i was asked..." I also had a few choice words about the planning on weekends. I was told when i first started, that at 5p, everything goes to Memphis. Phone calls, qualcomm messages, planning, EVERYTHING. I'm told in this phone call that everything does go to memphis, BUT the planning is still done by Edwardsville or Manteno for trucks in the midwest. (manteno basicly covers the chicago market). I have an MT reefer return load that got me into Morris yesterday about 1p. I stopped en route to let my dog out, and in the meantime, sent off a message asking about a load to keep me rollin'. I was told, "your PTA is set for noon sunday". WTF ???!???!?! does anybody read loaded calls? how is it set for sunday, when i set it for noon saturday (planned noon arrivial when i left the Costco whse) and i even got the automated message, "driver changed their PTA to...XX/XX XX:XX" So, i bit my tounge all day saturday when i got MT. 7p i asked why was it taking so long to get me a load? Then this morning, asked what the status was. they fed me the same BS saying "oh the planner knows you're MT and waiting for a load". "Does it take 24 hrs to find a load?" I sent another message back saying that if i wasnt planned by 10 (they got 3 hrs) on something with some miles, i was bobtailing home 4 hrs away, and that if i am going to sit, i'm sitting at home. Then my DM will wonder why i'm at home rather than in Morris, which i've already sent an email off to him.
its not hard to keep me happy.....just keep me rollin'.
Interesting phone call the other day....

maybe time to start looking for another carrier if your miles go down the tubes, take alook at millis transfer, small company, beer loads and paper, glass bottles, used to work there back in the 90's for 2 years, i'm kinda moving towards them instead of swift, they run from wis. to the east and to cartersville ga. all loads can del. early if there open nice, no apps. and you go to the same places most of the time so you get to now the people, i think we stayed on RT-2 alot going throw ohio don't use the turnpike there,o ya indiana that whould be RT-20, i miss those back roads, you know every bump and truck stop along the way

its not an issue with the miles, its the issue with how dis-jointed things are on weekends. half the time, i've got a load that gets me thru the weekend....when i dont is when i seem to run into issues. I b!tch enough, and then i get loaded pretty good. Why does a driver have to send 10 messages before they get the picture. I told them i was headed home 4 hrs away if i wasnt planned on miles by 10a. 9a rolls around, and i get a 840 mi load thats round trip reefer. So now when my DM comes in monday morning and reads my emails, he'll say "what you talkin' bout? you got miles?"
and i confirmed, i'm planned out of edwardsville/manteno when i'm in the chicago area, but after hrs and weekends, my messages and phone calls go to memphis. How dis-jointed is that? So i message memphis for a load, and then they have to message a planner in another city. (but i think i said that already)....hahahah -
Biker dave how do you like driving for Mills?

i work there around 1996 to 98, good small company, they added a couple terminals sence i left, left the trucking field back in 2004, burned out, had to take a brake, so 6 years of borring factory work i should be back in the field come april, winter time the trucking field is slow, looking at swift and millis transfer, but after reading all of the threads here swift may be to big but i don't know, lots of drop and hook with 50,000 trailers but small companys know what the left hand is doing, they run east of the mississippi river, mostly wis. towards pa. across RT-80 to ma. and jersey and bush gardens in va. read there threads, i was there for 2 years and in the trucking field thats a long time, from wisconsin we run thru chicago on RT-94 no toll road, then on RT-20 in indiana to RT-2 in ohio, it takes awhile to get use to that route but its good, your in michigan, they have a terminal in trenton oh. just north of cincinnati, i'm sure alot may have change sence i left in 98 so read there threads and go to there web site, they haul beer, beer kag's, bottles and pallets all for the beer stuff, and you brake those metal seals the beer factorys put on to strap the loads and to check the load every few hundred miles unlike other company won't let you brake the seal, wright there say's something the small companys care about the load, i know coming out of jersey you have to tighten those straps down 100 miles out cause you have to it the brakes from cars jumping in front of you, or the guy pack those skids to loose if you know what i mean, everytime the truck stops i get out and check those straps, i know swift hauls some beer but are they aloud to check those straps i don't know, DICKJONES have you haul beer and whats the scoup there for swift on beer loads, thanks
