im just curious how bad is it really out there doing your evo's with the trainer? ive read on here many many times that additude is everyhting in this field and it is what you make of it. ive never seen a more upbeat positive trainee/poster (belleye) and noticed that even he decided to pursue a local gig after evo's. no privacy, dirty truckstops, two or more weeks away from friends and famiy ard sleep deprivation are just a few issues that are well documented in trucking and should be well known by those getting into the field. what else is it that drives so many packing after just a few months? Ive wanted to drive since ive been a teenager and this board seems to do nothing but scare me away!
How bad are evo's?

I suppose it depends on your trainer. I went out with the same guy for 15 out of my 20 days out. I would have stayed out with him the whole time but they said I had to have at least 5 days with a different trainer. He was great. His name was Wayne and he's out of Detroit area. Just get through the evos and you'll get your privacy back. Yeah there are dirty truckstops out there, but that has nothing to do with your evo training, it's just a fact of trucking life.

I start my orientation with Roehl on the 22nd,I'll keep you posted.
Now for my limited inexperienced answer.
I did alot of homework on different companies,I chose Roehl because of their training and overall company wide attitude torwards new and experienced drivers.Their evo program is 3 different trainers over a 3-5 week period.Home time between trainers..At the end you go to a new driver dispatcher..I personally like this setup..but I'm sure many more do not. This industry is hard..and having to sacrifice is the way of life.
I expect the worst and hope for the best.Being in a cab with a trainer is hard, but like you said attitude is everything, and that alone will get you by.Hope this helped and keep in touch.. -
You may or may not have hometime between trainers. Just so you know. I only went home once because my trainer had to go home for a few days. Otherwise I was out for the whole time with about a 36 hour break when I went home. It's almost better though to get it over with.

I will never forget my Evo's I had a trainer that would pleasure himself and leave the tissue on the pullout table. I think he didn't realize that I knew what he was doing.

Dude, that is so gross. -
there are alot of bad things about trucking, the truck stops are usually bad, its lonely,no bathrooms in the truck. but even with that and missing my wife i cant leave this job. i love the good parts of it too much. i never have to deal with coworkers every day, no time clock. of course we have to deal with deadlines and dockworkers
but if i get a 3 day load i do it and thats it, no 9 hours a day with people you dont like

The bad part is I told Roehl after the 3rd night of this trainer choking his Chicken and they told me to deal with it. I thinkl they thought I was lying. well at least my second trainer was better. His only fault was he could stop eating his booger. He would pick his nose non-stop. He would pull a greeny out and eat it as though nothing was happening. Roehl trainers..Gotta love them....
