American-Trucker, can you give me examples of how TMC runs their company like the Marines? And please do not tell me about not allowing people to walk on their grass.

there is NO leway in there operation, They have the way they want you to do somthing and thats how you do it. They say take this road thats what you do. They require you to run hard all day every day, there is no sitting around and taking a bunch of breaks during the day with them.... Do some research on here about them You'll find all the same info on them that I did.

I understand what you are saying..

Of course I am still learning the ropes, I understand you have a lot more knowledge then I do..

From what I have learned, is that drivers are allowed only a certain amount of hours to drive everyday and they cannot cheat on their log books. If TMC is going to run me hard and make me drive their routes, but in turn give me my required down time, then I am good with it. I am not looking to take a lot of breaks when I am driving. Of course if I have to stop and stretch, no company will make a big deal of it. Also, I am sure when stopping to get fuel, that will be enough time to stretch and grab a coffee.

And I still haven't found out why they say TMC treats drivers like Marines. :)

    Ken,

I was hoping there were other companies I could start with, but as far as I know, those are the only two (Werner and TMC) that will reimburse me for my tuition and pay my VA benefits..

I'd love to sit here and write a detailed decription of life at TMC but I've never worked for them, but I have spent the last few years on this forum and others reading about TMC....so if you'd like to know more do a little research.

I'm not saying that there a bad company, I was just trying to make a point that there not the best or anywhere near it, and that there are other and better options for a new driver.........

Which companies do you think are a better choice for people wanting to start out? Like I said, the only ones I know that will pay me back for my tuition and will pay me my VA benefits are Werner (which is out of the question), and TMC.

    Thanks!! :)
