If your filling out a log book why do you need it?
I know how long I have to drive from when I start.
I know 30 min befor the sun goes down. That's when I stop.
    (I do OS/OW)
It's not somthing I would ever use but I'm sure some folks think it cool.
I have mine set at 0 hrs so it only bugs me once a day:biggrin_25525:

It's now the only method. Welcome to 1995.

i got the warning about the memory card too but just unplugged the unit, rebooted it, and hooked it back up and all updated just fine and haven't gotten the warning since.

So what is it? Are updates online or by SD card?

SD card would work for me as I'm currently on dial-up. (Stuck in 1995)

When I get working full-time, I hope to go wireless.

what unit do u currently have? from what i understand the sd card is only used for external storage on the 700 model. i THINK ( not for sure) that on the 500 model the sd card can be used for updating.

The online update system is currently disabled entirely for the 500. It will not even put updates that you downloaded previously onto the unit. The only way to get any updates is to call them and have them send it to you on an sd card. I don't know if it affects the 700.

If you do get wireless and the online system was working, it would eat up about half your bandwidth allowance for the month. It would also screw up the unit if the download failed in the middle as it can only get the entire update as one huge chunk and tries to write it straight to the unit instead of finishing the download and checking to make sure it's all there and not corrupted. Which is why they shut the system off.

I don't have EITHER unit. I'm trying to decide which one I want. I am going to have to get a truck specific GPS someday, and I'm hoping it's a Rand McNally. I've been watching this thread for some time now, and I'm not turned off by the RM TND units just yet.

I've got a Garmin 765T passenger vehicle unit that gets me where I'm haulin' grain to. I've never been let down yet, it gets me to where I can see the bins and that's all that's needed. I do have to watch the weight limits on county roads, though.

Humm,, sounds like the USB port on the TND was hung and not allowing the TND to reboot... I have to look into that.. Was this a T7E?

    Thanks,
    Mark
