Yes and that is all written off in taxes every year along with a ton of other stuff. I don't drive for JCT but am a L/O, you need to look at the whole package and look at the net profit at the end of the year. I net double what a company driver makes where I am. You are right, if you just look at that one number it doesn't make sense, but no drivers working at JCT just look at that one number.

You're right. He's wrong at looking at the end value as to wether lease is a good or not.

But you are wrong at looking at it only from the respect of the revenue to cost perspective. The "total package" also means considering wether the lease is a good value compared to the market.

In this case it is not. A 3 year old truck should be only about $300 a week on a term no more than 42 months and that is on the high end. $518 and 52 months should get you a brand new 2011 with a full warranty.

I am not going to get into a no win argument here but as with any business I look at what's left in my bank account at the end of the year after everything has been paid for. The truck payment is just one of the items on the spreadsheet. There are hundreds of variables that will make a business profitable or a bust. I have researched many programs that have much lower truck payments but you will never make any money because other items in their programs will take the money right back. And that's my only point here, you can't make any sensible decision on a L/O program without looking at all the numbers and seeing if you can still make money.

...if you see the same ad for the same job again & again & again. :biggrin_25513:
...if you go by an outfit that has a sign out front that reads
"Drivers Wanted" for weeks or months at a time. :biggrin_25513:
...if you go to a hiring event or driver open house and you're
the only one who shows up. :biggrin_25513:

A word to the wise...ANALYSE before you apply!

And if you you see a company that got rid of all there company drivers and only offer a lease purchase now run for the hills. There is a reason.
