youi dont know the name of the system you use every day?
i am only used to qualcomm---they can pinpoint you pretty close and tell exactely what your truck is doing speedwise and such--but they sure cant see you

We use qualcomm also,my bad.We have a separate satellite system that they can pull up on their computer monitoring systems. As far as the name of it i have no idea.Kind of sounds like BIG brother doesnt it.Again you could be right. All i know as that when he sat me down,(we have a 60 to 80 day safety talk)and somehow the talk got around to tracking trucks,he said check this out.He then proceeded to pull up an arbitrary truck. And he turned the screen so i could see, sure enough it was an overhead satellite view of one of our trucks moving down the freeway. Now again you could be right, this could be a tactic to scare drivers,I dont know.I just know what i saw on that computer screen.Hope this guy gets it worked out,he got a raw deal.

It is a scare tactic. We have the tech, yes, but unless they launched their own satellite they'd have to pay to use someone else's at several thousand dollars per minute to get a live view like that. I'm probably lowballing that figure. It'd also have to be a military satellite to get a high enough resolution to see the truck and there'd be more tech required to track it. They don't rent those out at all. Just check the photos on Google maps and how old they are. Google doesn't even have enough money to keep static shots updated to more than a couple years old.

Your probably right,in any case It doesnt bother me one way or the other. If I was doing something dangerous to the motoring public, and knew better,I should be terminated anyway,This guy didnt know and his trainer should have done the proper thing and informed him of this so he didnt make the same mistake in the future.Maybe that same scare tactic was used on him in the past,or something similar.Bottom line,he should have had more,(how shall Isay this)I wanna say class, shall we say understanding. He was only worried about himself, and not.WHAT was best for the new driver.Everybody be safe, and have a beautiful day.
