I went to TMC web page and did some reviewing. I remembered seeing a "physical job functions" .pdf file on their FAQ page.

A couple things on that .pdf gave me some concern.

    One was:

    Another was:

I just don't think I can lift that much anymore. And I sure don't want to lug that 120 lb. tarp up a ladder! So what do you guys think? I didn't think those tarps weighed THAT much!!

There's always RGN and/or Double Drops....

Get on with a carrier who has military contracts.....
Very little tarping on mil loads....
    Mainly chains and straps....

In the 38 years that I've been flatbedding, I've never carried a tarp up a ladder!
I've never carried securement equipment up a ladder!
    That's what forklifts are for...

The most I do is lift the tarps up onto the deck from the ground.
Some of the cheesey companies like TMC, Maverick and Melton have those big stupid 8' drops that weigh a million pounds because they're drivers will destroy a good lightweight 4' drop and will destroy or lose (or sell) a set of tarp skirts!
So they buy the cheapest, worst possible tarps to deal with.

I have lightweight 4' drop tarps with a set of 4' tarp skirts for the rare occasion that I need them to cover a high load. My tarps weigh about 50 or so pounds each and the skirts weigh around 15 pounds each so they're a lot easier to deal with than the fleet tarps.
They last a long time if you take care of them and pad sharp corners on loads before you tarp them but most of the company drivers I see going down the road don't take very good care of their tarps...You'll see'em rolling along with their tarps flapping in the breeze oblivious to the fact that they're shredding a perfectly good set of tarps out of pure lazyness or ignorance.

I get mine from "Sharps Tarps" in Salt Lake City, UT. I have also had tarps built by Capitol Tarp in Sacramento, CA.

Both of these places make top quality tarps.

My point was that most DD or RGN loads are vehicles or equipment....Very rarely do you tarp a loader, PC, blade, crane, scrapper......

Also....My greatest regret was not getting a drop.....

Flatbedding is great...don't get me wrong...But it sucks when I get high $$$ loads only to have to turn them down because of height restrictions....
