So, I'm with CRST now, and they don't pay tolls. And it's my first load heading into PA. I-76.
I've looked on the Pa turnpike webpage, to calculate the tolls. From the PA line to the 234 exit, they want $100.45. That's based on their calculator entries of Class 7 vehicle(62k-80k lbs) and 5 axles.
Is that right?
Headed to mechanicsburg, then home for turkey! but at that price for ttolls, it may be spam.

Why would anyone work for a company who doesn't pay their tolls? -
Sounds right,, where are you at starting out and are you going to be heavy coming back out?
Many take 80 east to exit 123 and run that road down to US322 and follow that to the Harrisburg area.
What do the planners/ dispatchers want you to do? I can take advances to cover tolls, but I don't know what CRST does, and I wouldn't want to find out.xiipercent Thanks this. -
I could say something, Redd, about your signature, but I'll be wise and not.
The original poster was asking a question. We all know of companies and situations we wouldn't want. Some of us are stuck in them for the time being, and some of us have to take a little bad with some good to keep a job and the money coming in.lego1970, Ducks and MackDaddyMark Thank this. -
25(2)+2 isnt that how most people are? Have advice for others but cant fail to follow their own.. Lol REDD is Mr. Big Badd ### Owner/Operator so of course it means nothing for him to take a shot # the ppl who are not as fortunate as himself. Some people have to start somewhere... Perhaps he doesnt quite get that
-
CRST pays approved tolls, if I remember what I was told, and they route trucks all over to avoid tolls, but if the route is approved, they will reimburse you for it. I have seen them on lots of toll roads.
I just didn't want for the original poster to take an unapproved route and have to pay it completely out of pocket.MackDaddyMark Thanks this. -
Since you asked...
I just came back from 6months off hiking the Appalachain trail. Bought a truck, leased on...and trained a girl(24yo) i'm 41, how to drive. She just finished her training yesterday in Cedar Rapids. With flying colors, i might add. Anyway, we're now going to team.
My months average revenue for all miles(deadhead and loaded) is $1.00 per mile. And my average net after fuel when factoring in the FSC is .84/mile(again, all miles)...We've run 18082 miles month to date.
CRST has some pretty good freight. I'm receiveing 70% of the load pay billed to the customer. And I'm beginning to appreciate the non-reefer business. out of the 25 loads or so i've pulled since leasing on, maybe 5 were live load...and those were fast loads. I've never been in a door more than an hour.
As for rates...my best has been 1.55 w/fsc...worst .66--- but i've posted my average...so the high/lows don't matter so much.
With all that said, I guess it's ok that I pay tolls. I just had never realized how much they were in PA(egads) So, I think I will be taking that route from I80 x123 on322... Were lite today. It'll be good. now to get them to unload us before the holdiday shutdown. Thanks again for the help guys ....I love this site. -
The OP didn't say he was an O/O which led me to question as to why he would run a hundred dollar toll road with no reimbursment as a company driver.
And you are who?
Perhaps you should pay more attention to what I post here. Or possibly take the effort to get to know me a little. If you do, you'd most likely choke on your own words.
Mr. Baddass Owner/Operator? I wish!!!
Fortunate? Once again I wish! I'm struggling out here on the road just like everyone else. But I refuse to let it get to me.
Perhaps I don't quite get that? Hmmmm.... Perhaps if you know of everything I do to assist other driver's but don't see a reason to post it here on the forums you'd think differently.
But that's OK. Ya'll can slam me all you want. Why? Because I'm at home. -
I'm nobody just a greenhorn who had an opnion that im entitled to speak about on a public forum. Ive read your posts followed the whole thread about your pete and how you wound up in your volvo. Hell I commend you for sticking to your guns and getting things done. But Im sorry one thing I've noticed about this forum is that alot of ppl have the "holier than thou" attitude on here towards the rookies when instead of slamming people perhaps some on here should take an more educational route and then if people dont get it then say eff it. But C'mon dude made one post asking advice about tolls and you were all on his case. Did you take a chance to get to know him? Nope you gave your opnion. I did the same to you. Enjoy The Holiday # Home I Know I Will.
PS Not Trying to Start a Flame War, Like I Said Just Stating My Opnion -
Sleepingbear, dude all I can say is ....... Sorry!
Good Luck.
