I just got back from T.M.C.'s two week interveiw. NOTICE----- INTERVEIW------- I love TMC and everything about it !!! You know, if I had a fleet of 3,000+ trucks that cost $110,000.00 each I'd be pickie too !! I had a very good last two weeks, got home this morning about 8:30 am. I think I gained 20lbs all that food those 2 ladys were feeding us. I loved everything about it !!!!!!! If you can really drive a truck and want to make good money, try them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta leave back out tomarrow so LATER !!!!! KEEP ON TRUCKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hog, you LIKED that food? Good Lord, man.... Meatloaf Suprise Friday was my fave.... Not really! LOL. I loved it too while I was there, but once I got on a truck with a trainer, the whole demeanor of the company changed. Be careful, bud. The folks at orientation will tell you one thing and the trainer will turn all that completely on it's head. That's the way mine did anyway. Good luck to you!!

As far as food? Yup, easy.... Monday is county fried steak. Tuesday is pork loin. Wednesday is either lasagna or spaghetti. Thursday is meatloaf. Friday is, ummmm.....surprise!!! Your guess is as good as mine. LOL!!! And I hope you like instant mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn. You'll be eating them with EVERY meal. The cherry cheesecake and lemon meringue pie is pretty good though....

As far as I know, I am. The reason I say that is, last Wednesday (the 17th), we picked up a load of shingles out of Frederick MD. My trainer and I were strapping the load and I fell off the trailer while straightening out a strap, which resulted in me breaking and/or dislocating every single metatarsal in my left foot. So, I'm laid up at the house waiting on the docs to tell me when my surgery will be. From what I'm told, I'm going to have to have pins and screws installed to hold my foot together. Then, every six months after that, they'll have to be adjusted, and if need be, the doctors will have to "adjust the torque in my foot" (doc's got jokes). Either way, I'm scared to death that TMC will ****can me after all this is over with. We shall see....

CarolinaCat I was referring to what you posted about the people at Orientation. I was thinking about TMC as a choice and have heard alot of bad things and was just wanting to pick your brain, and to see if it is or is not what I have heard. So if you could give some examples about what was told to you at Orientation and then what the trainer told you when you got with him.

    CarolinaCatJack Thanks this.

OK, let's break it down. Have you ever heard what TMC stands for? Trucker's Marine Corps. It's not as bad as the real thing, but it's close. You have to be able to hoist yourself up onto a trailer deck (about 5 1/2ft in the air) and handle 130lb lumber tarps. They tell you that average length of haul is 450-550 miles. Bull. Average for me was 900-1100 miles. And one drop a day? More bull. You might stay under a load for two or three days before you deliver.

If you go, get through orientation and training and test-out, you'll get a choice of truck. Get a Pete 379. You can also get a Pete 387 (affectionately known as the Darth Vader Fleet), but the 387s are HEAVY. If you've got an 80,000lb GVW on a 387, you can't fill your tanks. You'll be overweight.

Don't be scared to ask questions. They're there to help. You're there to learn. If you're offended by cursing, either don't go or get over it. They're truck drivers. George and Randy are the classroom instructors. Dave, Jeff, and Phil are the yard instructors. Nate is the load securement instructor. All are good. Tap Tap and Dan are the two best road instructors there. Leroy will **** you up. He's a crotchety old fart and he'll make you feel two inches tall, no matter how good you are.

I don't know if I answered any of your questions or not, since you didn't specify, but hopefully I did. If there's anything else in particular you want to know, don't hesistate to let me know. I'll help in any way I can. Take care, truck driver. :)
