they are screwing you over.....no company ever told me i had to pay them back. the only time I PAID for anything was a separate motel room. i DID NOT wish to be sharing a room with another guy. so i paid for my own room, which by the way, the company could NOT reimburse me, which i didn't care. the room was like $12.. per night (the company rate they charged me...cool...)

that company must have either gotten sick and tired of all the deadbeats going to thier orientation and figured they will now start recouping thier costs, or they have been doing this from day number 1.......

but i must admit, you are the ONLY ONE that ever told us of this......

Have you tried any of the companies in the Grand Rapids area? Equity, for example?

I wouldn't work for a truckload outfit if they threw rose pedals in my walkway and had an up front $5000.00 sign on bunus with free airfare and placed me in the presidentual suite at a 5 star motel with limo service.

Are you looking for CRST to train you? if so they do charge all that stuff and you have to reimburse them, but that is just during the training. My son just went through their orientation and all he paid was breakfast and lunch. Once he was out of their CDL training the room was paid by CRST.

It's $40.00 a week AFTER you are out of the trainer's truck.

Personally, after some thought and reading this forum, I found a better option for me. It working fine for my son. What is worth it for one may not be for another. My personality is just better suited for solo and not team. Even if my team mate would have been my son.

I spoke to Sarah in the recruiting office yesterday afternoon. I'm new to the industry, but having to pay it all back seemed steep so that's why I posted here.

Equity only hires experienced drivers. I have been putting in apps to other GR and Kzoo places.

And to those who are mentioning me moving... I'd love to. If I had a job and could afford the deposit and first month's rent including moving costs and groceries. I'd love to move to TN, but that's not happening until I get a job.

I have my CDL license, so yes, it'd be on the road training.

From what I was told on the phone I'd have to pay for the hotel room regardless. And also find my own teammate during the 3 days orientation. I don't mind teams because I can get along with nearly everyone, but I'm like you. Solo fits my personality more than team. But I need to start somewhere.

    PainNdaNeck Thanks this.

A CRST recruiter called me the other day, and all you stated is true. Werner turned me down. CRST says they are hiring like mad. I have to admit with my two years of unemployment I might jump if they make me an offer. I just got my CDL November 12th and the clock is ticking.
