God forbid a guy gets high by himself when he's put the children to sleep and after a long hard day of work, makes him feel a bit better. I'm so tired of this negative image pot has. It's a freakin plant for crap sakes, now PCP or heroin, or meth, on the other hand - yeah I get it. It's not like every parent who gets high on the weekends is encouraging their children to try it. They most likely do it in private and just want to chill. Name the amount of death's a year from marijuana smoking and we can compare and contrast alcohol or tobacco related deaths. Since you think POT is soooooo bad.

 

It doesn't quite work that way. With prescription medications (Your Vicodin) the prescribing physician must inform you that it will not affect your ability to safely operate a CMV (Preferably in writing). Otherwise the warnings on the label rules. Regardless of whether the medication is prescription or not you should not drive until you know how the medication affects you (and/or have a physician inform you) and if you do, you can be held accountable.

And my personal belief is that one can use any drug they want, as much as they want, anytime they want, as long as they are not the one making decisions which may affect me or mine.

Couldn't agree more, as mentioned above but...There are a couple of problems.

1) At what level is one considered under the influence of the substance
2) How to test accurately to determine the level in one's system

Surely you know how a DOT drug test works. The split sample etc. (I'll use marijuana as an example). If the first sample is tested and shows 50 nanograms per milliliter or more of THC metabolite, the second sample is tested with a cut off level of 15 nanograms per milliliter. That or above it's considered a positive. Notice it's the THC metabolite (9-carboxy-THC), not the THC (Delta-9-THC) itself which is detected. There is no known conversion between the two because different peoples body's metabolize at different rates. So all the piss test shows is the presence of the THC metabolite, which proves THC has existed in the body. Then the best way to find out how what the person's level is, is with a blood test and a lab.

I don't see it as demonizing weed. I agree with you that in many cases, alcohol is probably worse.

But for better or worse, alcohol is legal and pot is not. And drug testing is nothing new. So the bottom line is you show me a real nice guy who chooses to smoke pot in the weeks before he's going to take a job interview or enroll in a program where a medical exam will be involved (i.e. trucking school), and I'll show you a guy who isn't very bright.

They might seem like nice family guys, but I don't feel sorry for them one bit. They made choices that have consequences and they have no one to blame but themselves.

 

The legality doesn't bother me a whole lot.

you can try to "decriminalize" pot all you want, it's STILL DOPE.....and will stay that way for generations to come.

how are we OR YOU to know, you got proof of what you say...?? how do we know the kids aren't SUPPLYING mom and dad with a little weed....?? how DO YOU KNOW if the kids DON'T smell the traces of pot in the house and then go searching for it....????

if one has to circumvent the testing process to check for illegal drugs, then one does NOT NEED to be on MY ROADS.....

Rerun, Fyi you don't see colors from smoking pot and at one time smoking pot was not illegal. Back in the 80's before the use of piss tests I didn't know a trucker who didn't smoke weed. Don't get me wrong I'm not condoning the use of pot while driving,though I would much rather have a drivers on My Roads smoking pot than drinking, I'm just trying to give you a little insight into something you evidently know very little about.
