Getting the backs in were not a problem at all i got well over 3-4 times the required backs in. My mentor had me do at least 5 a day when we had time for it, especially at the terminals.
The loads i got while on my mentors truck seemed to be about all the same, pipe, lumber, pvc pipe, van loads...
But i started on my mentors truck the begining of December and the frieght was slow i guess.
Right now im about 50 miles out from Hayward, CA going to drop a load of steel pipe off their pick up some steel from up here somewere and run it to Fontana,CA...I like theses short trips i can make up for my hometime

Hey schmud,
Good posts...why are you driving van?...not enough work on the skateboard?...I'm hearing alot of horror stories from van drivers wasting alot of time looking for empty trailers...so do you guys keep the same board or do you have to swap it out each time?...also do you have to do alot of tarping or do they not require that as much anymore?...I'm starting Swift school 10/29/10...gonna go the flatboard route...thanks in advance for the response...Ray -
we dont keep a trailer to long usually,it all depends on location, location, location.
Alot of the flatbed frieght goes back and forth to mexico, so once you get to the border kiss the trailer bye,bye....usually their is no problem finding an empty flatbed
Tarping is just load dependent what the customer wants. I do lots of tarping...trust me you earn every penny of it.
I am pulling a van right now because they thought i was going to sit on 1300 miles from tuesday to monday because of turkey day....so thats the great thing about flatbed, you can allways steal a van drivers load
So instead of doing 1300 miles i did 1969 from wednesday to today, picking up a 460 mile load tommorrow to kentucky it delivers on monday...gives me time for my mid term exams! The Challenger and alex94 Thank this.
