FAT people are Discriminated against at prime

It don't take much to start eating right. It gets a bit harder to get out and exercise everyday and its alot to stay on the path to getting healthy. But if i can do it then there is no reason any other driver cant do it.

 

Sounds like your roommate got lucky and wont be stuck hauling cheap freight.

Sure that's why you have drivers that have told me they have gone six months with out a paycheck. Prime tells them they need to run 60 mph to get better fuel then average there log out to 60. I have witnessed Prime Inc. come in and cut rates by as much as a dollar per mile. Then give it to there lease guys for little over a 1 per mile.

 

Actually its 57 - 58 mph. A dollar per mile??? Don't make me freakin' laugh! I haven't pulled a sub-dollar-per-mile load yet, and am averaging quit a bit more than that. Current load is $2.10 per mile.

6 months? Only a real loser would work that long for no pay... If that was true then it's obvious that driver is a moron and he is probably the single contributing factor towards his business demise.

Uh, they tell us to run 55-58 for better fuel milage... Let's look at your equation and factor out the fact Prime is on elogs and the machine logs the drive time as it is run. Run 60 Mph and log out to 60. Math is sound, so were is the rub?

I have no knowledge about rates. I'm a company driver so I'm not privy to the rates on the loads I am running. They keep me running about 2800 miles per week... Sometimes more. I can tell you that I rarely wait long on reload, and lately I've been getting load assignments moments after sending my empty call.

So looks like you may possibly have 1 weak argument out of 3.

 

Yes they have. I won't give out shippers info online, but I know first hand what Prime did. They absoltubalutely did cut rates by about a dollar per mile in the Northwest. I also know Lobster haulers in ME who have had their throats slashed by Prime. If you're tickled with your $2.10/mi you'd be nauseous if I told what we'd have gotten off the spot market.

And I will agree that the drivers who've run 6mths without a paycheck are idiots. I'd have been gone a long time before.

 

"Got Reefer" has been smoking too much of his own c.r.a.p. - and you're getting a contact high if you believe that. Prime has been raising rates with all of their shippers this year - especially those who demanded rate cuts the last couple of years. Oh yeah... just so you know - WE DON'T EVEN HAUL LOBSTERS OUT OF MAINE!

 

Even the likes of TQL pay more than Prime coming out of the Northwest. You can pick any produce shipping region in the country and I(along with many others) could make one phone call to a decent, reputable broker and get spot market produce loads paying at least $.50 per mile more than what Crime Inc. pays on a comparable load.

Prime was always notorious for being cheap, and that fact remains today.

Example, called Prime a couple weeks ago on a spot market load of apples from Wenatchee,WA to New Stanton, PA. The highest that they would go was $2.05 per mile to New Stanton,PA after I beat on them for awhile. I hung up with them and got a call from one of my good produce contacts with a load to Goodlettsville,TN. It was a load of apples from Wenatchee and their first offer was $2.65 per mile.

So let's see, go to a crappy freight area for $2.05 or take a load to TN, a good freight area for $2.80(I never take first offer, even from my good contacts)??? Which would I ever choose?

 

If you called Prime looking for a load - you didn't get the rate I would. Anything they shop out will have an additional percentage taken out of it for covering the costs of brokering the load outside of the house. Besides, anything coming out of the northwest for us is backhaul.

And frankly, I could care less what YOU think about the rates I get. I accept or reject a load based on how it fits into my business plan and bottom line - and if my costs are lower than yours - well heck - that just means its easier for me to make money. Which is what this is all about.
