The same reason there are 80+ year-old truck drivers.

Because they can and they want to.

And I'd sure as hell want the 100-year-old woman as compared to the 37-year-old POS that knocked her down.

    Wonderful society we're becoming.

I hate walmart for this reason.. I stopped shopping there because I feel like a criminal having to stop to let them check my purchases.
You buy your goods, go through checkout & then you have someone stop you at the door to check your cart....
I always used to tell them if you believe I stole something then arrest me first & check my purchases, Never had one brave enough to do that, even loss prevention refused to stop me to check..

Lets face it though, these old poeple here should just be a "Greeter" not trying to stop customers from leaving a store using force..

Oh please. All you do is hold up your receipt, they look at and verify that what is NOT in a bag has been paid for. It's not like they slam you up against the cookie shelves and pat you down, grope your private area, fingerprint you, cuff you and call you a thief. It's no different than not being allowed to carry the films out of the movie rental store, or walking past the monitors at the clothing store.

People LOOK for a reason to be offended and they LOOK for a reason to get their panties in a twist. People LOOK for any reason at all to behave like a donkey's behind and punch someone.

They next time you wonder why someone cuts you off in traffic, flips you off, pulls behind you so you can't dock, gripes you out about the delivery time just remember it's no different than someone throwing a hissy over showing a receipt at the Wal-Mart. It's all happening for the same reason, people LOOKING for reasons to be hateful.

I thought that I've heard everything until I read the news article. How low does a person's morals have to be to physically assault someone so old? I hope that whoever committed this shameful act is haunted by guilty memories for a long time.

On a side note, I never get asked to see my receipt at Walmart. I always keep the receipt in my hand on my way out of the door for the loss prevention/door greeter associate to view. Many times they never want to see it, especially when I greet them with a HUGE smile and a nice compliment and/or greeting. Gives those usually nice people something to smile about for a while too.

the Walmarts here have stickers they put on anything that doesnt go in a bag. dont even have to stop unless they dont see the sticker right away or an electronics thing didnt get its security tag deactivated right. smart way to do it imo.

society is still going down hill as fast as ever... people swear at me because one of their 4 tvs in the house isnt working and it'll be a day or two before a tech can get there.(oh yeah the other 3 are perfectly fine..)
