Itc out of Merrill Wi and X-cel out of Grand Rapids MI? I used to work for both these guys and can't seem to determine if they're still around or not, called information and they have no numbers for either. Reason I ask is because I've been out of driving for a while now and I'm looking to get back in so it would be nice to be able to prove I drove for someone in the past, even if it was 10 yrs ago. Anybody have any info? Thanks...Al
Are ITC or X-cel still around?

i'm from the grand rapids area.( not there anymore) but I cant find any info on them anymore. It looks like they feel off the face of the earth. Sorry

I was in the same situation. THe company I drove for years ago went under as well. With it being that long since you drove it won't matter. They will not count it as it is not recent OTR. -
if you were to get a copy of your DAC report, chances are there will be some information there pertaining to your past. if in the extreme situation, if you have your yearly tax records from that many years ago, you can at least photo copy the W-2 forms and that will be "some proof" of your employment there. even the local social security administration office can pull up your employment history as far back as when you got your very first job in your life.....!!
so there you go, ways to get proof of employment................ -
Thanks for the info guys, I am sending for my DAC on Monday morning. SS office I forgot all about so that's gonna be a stop too. The X-cel I'm talking about hauled mostly Steelcase and Herman Miller office furniture out of Grand Rapids and surrounding areas and pretty much anything going back to MI, had blue Petes and Trailers with company name across the trailer. Thanks again for the info...

The proof might be in the pudding, but it won't help him. Too long ago. No recent OTR. He will basicly have to start from scratch. -
I have no problem starting over I realize I'm gonna have to. I'm having a hard time finding a company because I'm not fresh out of school and my recent isn't recent enough. I wasn't completely away the whole time, I have family in the biz and occasionally would make runs with a cousin over holidays and some in the summer so I haven't forgotten how to drive, just need someone to give me a chance again. I was looking for Itc because I liked them when I was with them and possibly wanted to talk with them but apparently they're not around either. I appreciate the info, got any suggestions?

inquire at any local driving schools in your area for any refresher courses that might be offered. i would hope they do not try to get you to sign up for a whole new course all over again. as driving for your family/friends/whatever, unless you have W-2 forms, this ain't gonna help you much. at least, my suggestions can "back-up" your claims to being a driver some years ago. they may not hold any weight, but its a start, and most of that info is free, especially the social security office.
those runs over the holidays/summers just wasn't enough road time.
you can probably get a job driving class B trucks, that's a start, especially in any LTL company. many times, they will train you for class A, before they hire from outside the gates......... -
Yeah I hear you, just not liking it much. I checked with the school I went to back in '95 and they want a grand for a 45 hr "refresher" course. Just can't see spending that to re-learn backing and logs really, everything else I'm ok. You think another school in my area would be worth checking into? There's a few technical schools in the area that offer courses but not sure about refreshers.
