Translation: I choose to be a jerk...
Some of these docks get real busy. Yes, closing doors is not a big deal and maybe that should not have been included. However, there are many occasions where drivers will pull away, block others, and not give a crap about anyone but themselves. You can choose to be cool, or you can choose to be a jerk about it. Which category are you in?
One more note of etiquette...

If you choose to assume I'm calling you a jerk then that's your choice. I haven't. Actually I figure you had a bad day were letting off steam. And if you notice that particular post was made in response to Flying Flinn's post. My response to YOUR post was made earlier. If I thought you were a jerk, I'd tell you straight out that I thought that.
I hope you have a really great day.Wargames Thanks this. -
I don't mind someone setting tandems and closing doors in front of me on the way out. It's those guys racing the clock into the Walmart DC receiving desk who, despite being told to drop their trailers in the door first, park by the receiving office door and go stand in line for 15 or 20 minutes. It starts a chain reaction of monkey see monkey do and pretty soon the entry is blocked.
The tarmac in front of the docks is the place to set tandems and open/close doors, whether you like it or not. The exit gate is far too narrow in most cases and far too busy. You want to do your stuff on the street? Do that in Chicago, Philly or LA and let me know how it works out for ya'.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
You can stop if you really want to...Help is available! -

I get the gist of what he's saying though.. When I was a P&D driver here I never had an issue with someone closing doors ASAP but never cared to wait on someone sliding tandems if there was clearly room away from the dock so the next truck could get in..
kdryan Thanks this. -
All I know is that I'm tired of having to wait to get into and out of a door because some inconsiderate a-hole is too lazy to pull 100 ' down the way to the approach to the docks. If you can't be that considerate, then you have no right ######## about ANYTHING you see anyone else do, and so far that's what I have seen.

Well I just think this post is so good it should be posted twice. It certainly expresses the patient, considerate and friendly image of a driver.
Okay kdryan I told you I'd say it to your face: personally I think you're acting a bit like a jerk. I don't think you ARE a jerk, you're just acting a little bit like one today.
I hope things get better for you.Wargames Thanks this.
