Hello, I was wondering where is the best place to hide money in the truck? or is it best to keep all your money on your person? I thought it would be good to bolt a safe to the floor under you bunk, then get some latches and locks for the bunk it self. is this a good idea? or does someone have a better idea? would like some imput on what you think is best. thanks JC

I can give you the "store your money in the bank" answer, but I hate banks. You know what, you know where, keep the cash, in your bear. (Stuffed animals, etc.) I'm giving away secrets. Now I'm gonna have to find more!
orion3814 and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
Well. I'd tell ya but then I'd have to shoot ya.
Actually what I use to tell teens about hiding money on mission trips was this: think of the place you'd absolutely HATE to look in someone else's things and that's where you put your money.Badmon Thanks this. -
Wherever you decide to hide it, make sure you have multiple hiding places so that if some toe-rag does break in and discovers your loot, they don't clean you out.
One method used in eastern Europe is to hide about $20 in a fairly easy place, and the bulk of your cash in another. Of course, in the US, $20 would likely not satisfy your average thief, but in Romania/Bulgaria it was a small fortune and kept the local scumbags reasonably happy.
Can't see anything wrong with your idea at all. From what I've read on here, I wouldn't feel too happy about carrying any amount of cash on me in some of the more dodgy US cities. -

It's best to use debit cards or you can elect to have your pay put on your Comdata card if you have one.
A safe is a good idea. I would bolt it on the closet floor. It's easy for someone to pop the under bunk doors open. I have one of them safes at home but didn't think about the truck. I use it more for important papers because it's fire proof.
I seen at truck stops they have beer and soda cans with screw off tops you can hide stuff. Just don't buy the beer one. DOT might think your a drunk and take it from you, lol.
Mental note: steal Jim's teddy bear!JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
Only keep enough cash on hand that you would need for your daily/weekly business and personal needs. Comdata does have the availability to deposit your pay directly into that account so you can access your money with your comdata card just like a debit card at any ATM. -
I just use my Debit card, and at most I might have $100 cash on me but even thats rare and it doesnt hang around long lol I wouldnt keep much of anything in the truck...Trucks are very easily broken into and stolen, so even if you hide it really good it wont matter if they take the truck lol

Mounting a safe to the sleeper floor is a lot of weight and the floor is aluminum, I am sure you could kick it loose. Cash in your pocket, debit card in you wallet. works for me!

Why would you want to keep any more than $100 in the truck?
A thief will look in all the places in a truck as there are not that many.
They WILL look in those "other" places you would not go.
They can tear the box right off and out of that thin aluminium floor you bolted it to!
Yes a decoy money stash can make an in a hurry scum bag hit the road! I had a second wallet with a twenty in front and 5 ones that If I had to I'd throw at the guy and hit the gas but I never had in 32 years someone try to rob me even in NYC!
I have lost one CB to a driver at the yard one time many years ago and that's been my experience with them.
Now there was a loser in Gary IN at the TA who climbed the fence and threw a rock through a CR England drivers window and reached in and stole the guys jeans with his wallet in it which brings up another point. Hang your pants off of a hook in the sleeper not on the seat for easy access by scumbag to get to!
Don't keep money in the truck except for your weekly allowance of maybe $100! The rest is in the bank and you can use your ATM card to get it. Go to Wally World or the store and buy a coke, snack and whatever and get cash when done and keep from paying those stupid ATM fees!
There are very few LEGEAL stores that don't take a debit card. Unless you are paying coin operated baby dolls for service or doing illegal things needing money you really do not need large sums of it in the truck!
Besides different model trucks have different confih=gurations in the cabs so the place in an International over the TV box doesn't hold up to the pull the carpet up in a Freightliner overhead storage box or in the overhead small boxes that you can get to through the CB box or in the box over the door where you need to stand on the seat and reach in and pull the cardboard covered with carpet up and there is a hole there!
You have to go and explore that truck and poke and look with a flash light BUT you are NOT the first one to do so and you can bet thieves know more about your truck than you do!
Even those soda can, hair spray cans safes aren't safe any more! Most of these decoy safes are good for 6 months and all of the low life's know about them!
Again don't keep money in the truck!
Have a list of all credit cards in a note book at home so if the wallet goes on a trip without you your spouse can make the calls.
Do not keep really important stuff in the briefcase as that is one of the first things to be looked at and then they use it to carry the rest of the stuff they can get in it to look legit!
There are now free anti theft and tracking programs for your laptop. Some even sound an alarm as moron tries to walk away with it! I highly recommend you either purchase one of these or get the free one and use it! Put an ID number on the front of the CB and other electronic equipment in the truck!
And guns? Think very long and hard about carrying! If they steal your gun while you're in getting a shower because the sign on the door said no guns allowed and as a good law abiding boy you left it in the truck you're in deep sheep dip if that piece of scum shoots and kills someone with it!
I just saw an article about a guy that was moving to NJ. He had a CA permit for his pistols. He called the sheriff of where he was moving for information and he followed the directions of carry it in the trunk in a locked safe and unloaded with the ammo in another box and now he's in PRISON because of NJ's barbaric gun laws after he told a police officer when stopped for a speeding violation! He got 7 years because of guns legal in another state!
Yes you have that license and a permit but there are way too many to keep track of and the jail and prison times to tough to think of your "rights" to carry as they have the right to do whatever they want! Yeah I know but why take that chance! I'd rather put up with having to beat a criminal to death or as close to it as I can than protect my honor in a jail!otherhalftw Thanks this.
