    sir,
So i can ###-ume, that you run on paper logs, and that you drive the speed limit non stop with no traffic on every run? i mean a road dog and all that would mean you don't use the restroom or eat like us non road dogs right? just curious what routes do you drive because I want to run the same roads with no traffic that would be cool. 11 hrs then a 10hr break that's 21 hrs and another 3 you can work but not drive so like i said before 11 hrs in a 24 is all u can drive unless the DOT is pulling my leg, being a non road dog and all. hats off to you sir!!

I for one will tell you this is not the place to come stirring the pot. JohnBoy, from what I know of him is a completely legitimate driver who does things legally, I can almost guarantee that was a combination of miles that was paid on that current pay check, I could be wrong. Notice all the pages of this blog do not contain controversy, so although I do not speak for JohnBoy, or the other posters on here, I for one would like to not see controversy started on account of you. JB, I'm not speaking for you, just sticking up for you from what I have learned over the past year.

First of all you seem to be mistaken about the regs. As I stated the regs allow up to 11 hours within a 14 hour time frame. Then you must have a 10 hour break before driving again. That does in fact mean you can EXCEED 11 hours of driving within a "day." Many newbies and wannabes have no concept of how to work a log book or combine your pti's with fueling to save time. Same as stopping at a shipper or rcvr and showing a 10 hour break while you are being unloaded. Combine sleeper berth time with off duty time for 10 consecutive hours and VOILA! a legal 10 hour break.

As for how often I stop, I usually stop about once through my driving shift. Thanks to the idiots who re-wrote the HOS they have taken away a drivers flexibility in managing his hours, stopping for meals or even taking a nap. Now its Ready, Set, Go! race through your day to squeeze every possible mile in before your 14 hour time clock turns you into a pumpkin!

Ask questions and you may learn. By the way this info can be verified by READING the HOS regs rather than listening to someone who "thinks" they know what they are talking about. In my case I have been a driver trainer for many years and criss crossed this country more times than I care to count as a solo as well as a team operation. in short I KNOW what I am talking about. I have to know because it is my livelihood.

    Here you can read it for yourself seeing you obviously have been misled by others;

395.3 Maximum driving time for property-carrying vehicles.
Subject to the exceptions and exemptions in §395.1:
    (a) No motor carrier shall permit or require any driver used by it to drive a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle, nor shall any such driver drive a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle:
(a)(1) More than 11 cumulative hours following 10 consecutive hours off-duty; or
(a)(2) For any period after the end of the 14th hour after coming on duty following 10 consecutive hours off duty, except when a property-carrying driver complies with the provisions of §395.1(o) or §395.1(e)(2).
    (b) No motor carrier shall permit or require a driver of a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle to drive, nor shall any driver drive a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle, regardless of the number of motor carriers using the driver's services, for any period after '
(b)(1) Having been on duty 60 hours in any period of 7 consecutive days if the employing motor carrier does not operate commercial motor vehicles every day of the week; or
(b)(2) Having been on duty 70 hours in any period of 8 consecutive days if the employing motor carrier operates commercial motor vehicles every day of the week.
(c)(1) Any period of 7 consecutive days may end with the beginning of any off-duty period of 34 or more consecutive hours; or
(c)(2) Any period of 8 consecutive days may end with the beginning of any off-duty period of 34 or more consecutive hours.

Thanks, pal. I'm quite sure if he has been following this blog since it's inception he should realize this is about my travels as a 27 year driver and what I and alot of us go through on a daily basis. This is about Calex and myself, not about HOS and logging. By the way, you were right, 600 miles of that particular week was carried over because I missed the payroll cut off. In any event, I have only had 2 log violations in the last year being on E-Logs, I forgot to do 2 postrips and got a violation for it. Guilty as charged!

Something tells me if you need to explain simple math to someone it will turn into a very long day. Thanks for putting that out there.

Ok all, I am loaded and sitting at the house having a cup of coffee. I'll post my adventure from yesterday tonight. Let's just say that between my delivery and reload I burned through my 14 hours last night just as I was getting home. For those that care, they'll be rescheduling my delivery appt .

Your'e right. It is difficult to convince someone when they already have been told something contrary to the information being offered. I have had to re-teach practicaly every co-driver I have ever had regarding logging regs. The schools seem to do a poor job when it comes to this subject.

I do like the info you have been offering. Still can't give up the higher pay and benefits at my current job to get a nicer truck though.
