I keep seeing refrences to a drivers DAC. I have figured out it is a record of a drivers history and performance. However, I was hoping someone in the know could further enlighten me. Thanks.

basically, DAC is (let's say) a holding place for information about you. your former employer, if they are a member of DAC will send them info about you usually when you quit, get fired, or whatever else. DAC isn't supposed to add anything into your file by themselves. they can take a statement from you, called a "re-buttle" if you dispute anything a former employer says about you. whether or not any potential employer will read your re-buttle is not known, seems they only want to hear what the former employer says.............but one never really knows.

the letters DAC some say meant something, where i read the letters actually mean nothing at all.............

its always good to get a copy of your DAC about 1-2 months after you leave any job. there may be some time that passes before any former employer puts something into your DAC file, or it may happen with-in seconds of your leaving..............

Also, your DAC report cannot be revised by you, other than posting a rebuttal but that still does not remove any information, false or otherwise. Only the reporting compnay can remove information.

If you want a copy of your DAC good luck. Can be a pain in the buttocks. DAC is now owned by USIS. So, if you want a copy, call your company and ask for the number. Or, try the website for USIS. But be forewarned, trying to get the number off the USIS website, is like trying to get through a maze brought into existence by the mythological Minotaurs solely for the purpose of causing headaches and spells of uncontrollable swearing.

I used the info below to order a copy of mine. If you call the number they will give you the requirements they expect. It's free if you meet one of three conditions: 1) Unemployed and applying for employment within 60 days. 2) On welfare 3) I forget but they'll tell you on the phone.
It's $9.50 if you don't meet the conditions.

To request a copy of your DAC report you must send them a written request including a copy of your Social Security card and Drivers License. To my knowledge this is the only way to receive your report unless you can persuade someone at a trucking company to obtain it for you. You'll need to provide your home address and telephone number along with all correspondence. Keep a copy of your request for your own files.

I hate to say it but to sum it up, a DAC is your Truck driving Career equailvent to a credit report. Not always accurate, but still a pain in the ##### none the less.:biggrin_25510:
