As long as I don't lose this dispatcher (and train the night/weekend crew) I just might stay after my year is up.
It will help if I get a better truck, but that in itself is not a deal breaker.
My honest, no BS, opinion of P.A.M.

I used to work for PAM. I am just posting this to maybe help someone out that is looking for information on what would be the best thing to do for maybe a new driver or an experienced driver. If I knew what I know now, I would never have signed up for Driver Solutions and their progam. I also will say that it will be a while if you reply to this before I can get back to you as I don't visit this website too often.
I would recomend to anyone getting into this trucking business to go to a school and somehow pay it off on your own. Then come to CRETE Carrier and get a real paying job. You will get DOUBLE THE PAY for training $600 week for 2 months. Then start at, I think .34 per mile, which is way higher than PAM's .26 that I had. It is a big difference. After one year you will get .40 cents per mile. If you stick with PAM, you will get a whole whopping .01 cents per mile raise. With Crete/Shaffer you will make a whole lot more for doing the same job, you will avg 2000-2700 miles per week, as long as the economy is going well. You will be able to put food on your table in other words. You won't spend 7 days waiting for your truck to get fixed, usually same day service at Crete, depending on the problem, the trucks work better and if it doesn't you can get another truck a whole lot easier. Crete is not a stock owned company and they own everything they have with no credit debts.
Chip, if you are reading this, maybe its time for you to make the big move to a real company that is not in a lot of debt too.
PEACE and be SAFE

I'm PO'd! They left me in Detroit at the Central Transport Yard for 50 freaking hours from early Sunday morning to this morning. I was still leaning towards staying after 1 year. Now I lean the other way for sure!

PAM doesn't only run teams. Those two factors you quoted me with are still true. The only lanes I know of that specify the need for teams is from Arlington, TX to Marion, IN and Taylor, MI/Detroit to Dallas or Laredo, TX. Both of those lanes are automotive runs. There was supposed to be a Memphis to Chicago dedicated lane, but I never heard anything more since that was mentioned a year or so ago.
With PAM you can take off pretty much anywhere you want to. Wanna spend a few days with family in a different state, they're not going to care. It'll be a bit more difficult to get out west as a solo driver, but I've done it and know many drivers who have.
I wouldn't worry about having to go teams. I highly doubt they'd team you up with someone, especially a guy you don't know, if you're not comfortable with that. Last thing any company wants is a sexual harassment suit on their hands. Not saying you'd go that route, it's just a precautionary measure for any company with a co-ed employee base.
Hope it all works out well for you and keep us posted. -
So, I guess my best bet is to go to Indy with the prehire with USA Trucking and talk to the recruiter while Im there.
I really wouldnt mind teaming for awhile till I got some experience on me. But Im not going to put myself into the position of teaming with a guy I dont know. Hubby, boyfriend, etc, wouldnt be bad.]
Anyways thank you so much for your help!!! -
Recruiters are liars. That is all there is to that!
