FMCSA Part 393.76 (e) (1)Adequate bedclothing and blankets........Whats adequate you ask? Thats over my pay grade.
-
Adequate? Sounds vague.
-
What I'm trying to explain to my driver is that during winter months you must have adequate bedding and clothing for the temperature that you are operating in.
You don't have a bed sheet good for summer when the temperature outside is below -10F.
You don't wear running shoes you wear boots.
You don't have a spring jacket you have a winter jacket. -
I'd tell you to tell them to use some common sense.. but that's an uncommon commodity anymore.
48Packard, outerspacehillbilly, Working Class Patriot and 1 other person Thank this. -
just bring along a sleeping bag good for minus- temps. there IS NO requirement for white sheets for instance.....
they basically are saying, "bedding material" to be comfortable. pillow, blankets, etc. but a sleeping bag i think is better. -
I agree,
When I used to drive I had a sleeping bag that was good for -40C.
However my driver brings bedding that will not sustain him if he get's into trouble. -
So, the $15 Walmart bag is no good? I believe it says 10-30 degrees. What is the best place (cheapest) place to get a -40? I leave for training this weekend for a Monday Orientation.
-
I know Walmart here in Canada has them in stock and they go for around $120+
