I think you're mistaking me with someone else. I didn't mention any stocks. Nor is my hubby under a lease contract any longer, but the last thing I'd want to do is file bankruptcy. And his ego wasn't what prompted him to sign a lease agreement. He wanted to be more in control, for what that ended up being worth. He made a decent living for us until they did what they did.
swift and the lease purchase

Waiting to hear the rest...
Mrs. Truckrswife, I don't doubt you honestly believe you and hubby got a raw deal and you want to see it set right.
I also know there is far more to this than you feel at liberty to disclose at this time. The allusions and inuendos are beginning to get tiresome. Please either spit it out...the whole sordid tale...or let it be until you can.
It's a request on friendly terms.Last edited: Dec 8, 2010

Sometimes I can be like a dog with a bone on certain issues, just ask my husband, and I didn't mean to offend or bother you or others and will let it be.scottied67 and Injun Thank this. -
sure he did. Unless he was given a blindfold and a pen, and someone put the pen in the little red box and just said "sign". Yeah, its a long contract, but he WAS GIVEN the contract. he's a grown up, he could have taken it and said, "yeah, i need to take an hour or two and read this..." before signing on the dotted line.
nobody held a gun to his head and forced him to sign it.scottied67 Thanks this. -
yeah, i am going to have to agree with Injun on this one. Now i know, if it is still under litigation you cant talk specifics, HOWEVER, if it is not, then 'spit it out' and tell us what they did.....so others can spot the same bread crumbs in the road, and decide for themselves to take a different path, before its too late.scottied67 Thanks this. -
For a rookie driver joining Swift, with no experience, does he have the lease option if he wants? Or is there a timetable the company has before a driver can go the lease option?

Injun, ChipW, The Challenger and 4 others Thank this.

A rookie cannot lease right out the gate. I don't know what the time period is, but I do know it's not nearly long enough.
I've had a similar discussion via PM with another member, but some of my words bear repeating here. I came into this business with prior experience owning and running a business. I had a mildly successful photography business. It was not ever going to take off like a rocket because I did not do very many portraits and always referred weddings to another photographer in the area. Too many headaches for me. It was this prior experience that readied me for leasing a truck.
If you have no previous experience, wait until you know the industry better.DickJones, ironpony and The Challenger Thank this. -
