Does anyone have any recent info on the new J S Helwig and Sons, Rockwall, TX? I've looked here and can't find much. Their website doesn't have much info either. Any help would be appreciated.

Excellent company, been here for about 3 months now. Good equipment, running a little more than 100 trucks, Pete 387's, KW T2000's, and Freightliner Cascadia's. Utilty 3000R trailers with a mixture of TK and Carrier units. Nothing is older then about 3 yrs. Miles are good, I think i've had maybe 1 week where i was out all week and didn't run over 3,000.
We run 100% legal on logs, no cheating the book. I know some drivers don't like that, i used to be one of them, but it's really not that bad. Avg. length of haul is about 1,200 miles and I've only had a few instances where I didn't have the hrs for a dispatch. The key is communication, which isn't a problem here, I call in and I'm a name, a person, a respected part of the team, not a truck #. Time off is either 14 out/2 off or 21 out/3 off or out longer if you so choose.
We haul a lot out of West TX (Plainview & Friona) and Dodge City. Most runs go to the East Coast. Some loads are multi-stop, some aren't. The most stops I've had so far were 4. Then normally load back to TX, OK, etc. and do it all over again.
Yeah I know, some will say I must be a recruiter for the company, 1st post and all. But I'm not, just a happy driver that doesn't have time to post. I just lurk around reading everyone elses.
I believe that there's still a $2,000 sign on, but not quite sure. Anything else, just ask. I'll try to keep tabs on this thread. -
Nice to hear some good things! Hope it continues for you!

I worked there driving for o/o about a year ago..they haul a lot of meat out of west texas all over, then usually backhaul for dollar general in odessa tx to get you back toward west texas. helwig had merged with Trans-Am for a while, then realised his mistake, and pulled his old co. back up. good-folks,high miles, good hometime. no complaints from me.
rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
