Are you coming on board as a company driver? I thought, and I may be wrong, that ATS was not hiring company drivers, unless they had heavy haul experience. Maybe they started again since the economy seems to be picking up.
What's up with two days of load securement? We had a few hours and no one needed that.
ATS has a classification system for rating their drivers. At the bottom is Class 4 and progresses to Class 3, 2, 1 with Class 1A being dedicated Heavy Haul. Each class gets heavier, wider, higher, longer or more expensive in at least one of these catagories maybe more, maybe all at once. A driver progresses through each Class by successfully delivering at least 5 loads and starting at Class 2 passing a test. Safety is the one who approves your promotion, so many other factors come into play.
Welcome aboard and I hope to see you out on the road some day.

They are hiring company drivers in regular freight and HH.
But HH you have to have recent prior experince. No rookies.
Me the freight is still slow and then they are broking some freight out again more. -
Ya, im coming on as a company driver. I have no flat experiance just 3yrs van and reef. did pull high cube and tri axle trls for almost 2 yrs. when I asked about any kind of training, they told me after oreintation i go to st cloud for 2 days load securement class, get truck end of day fri, then roll probably monday with a load unless they happen to have a load for me to leave out on sat. Im looking forward to it, its going to be a good challenge and good exersice for me.

All the company drivers I met the year I worked there were:
1) VERY long veterans of ATS. Nobody under six years. One guy for 22 years.
2) Kinda weird in some way. There was just always ONE thing about whichever company driver I met that was a bit off.
3) Totally insane. This applies to ONE guy I met. His name was Jeff something. He had a serious pre-occupation with sex with ANY female of ANY age, to the point I found it offensive, and infuriating. "Dude...she's like twelve." He replied, "So?" The guy was just fine when it came to work. He help out, knew his stuff as far as tying down, etc. But if we had idle time...the stories started. Now, you get pklenty of guys with strange stories, but at one point I had to interrupt Jeff in a story about popping a South American drug lord ten minutes before RECON arrived, and elevin minutes before SEALs arrived to ask him, "Are you schizophrenic?"
The guy was that bad.
OH! Not one solid tooth in his whole face either. A former Black Ops assassin, driving truck for ATS as a company driver, and can't keep his teeth.
If you meet him, ask him about the 200+ mph Corvette he had when he was a teenager that got him in all that trouble that somehow got the attention of the government so he could go do their "dirty work".
His unit was SO secret...it answered only to HILLARY CLINTON.
I'm not joking.
I pretty much gave up talking to company drivers after that.
Don't be one of those guys. Except, I see you're halfway there already.
Like my friend Terry says. Semper Fi. -
Please explain your Lease situation. You used the term Capitol Lease, versus what? Thanks
-
You qualify for the Capitol Lease after you complete your first year's lease, or you can keep leasing/renting the truck year after year.
All truck payments on the Capitol Lease goes towards purchasing your truck. You will have an initial payment, mine was $5,000.00, it will depend on the value of your truck and the years you will be on the Capitol Lease. I then had 50 weeks of $298.00 payments with a buyout of $1,000.00. I paid it off in four months rather than a year.Double Shovel Thanks this. -
terry-what is the year/make/model/value of the truck youre leasing and what were you payments for the first year before you started the capitol lease program? thanks
-
There may be a sign on bonus now, ask, and you would expect to get a 2006, 2007 or a 2008 truck. -
how is you doing at ats Im to start 1/3/11 please let me know
