This is the life of a "local" driver...not as easy as everyone tends to think it is.

What they do is tell you to go get loaded for one location, but on your way there they call and change everything around. Or you drive 100 miles to get a load that "is ready to go" but you get there and it takes 9 hours to get loaded, in a day cab..so you cant simply "say no" like all the experts say, they are used to drivers talking their way out of loads and have a roladex of excuses and lies to tell the driver in order to trick him into it...:biggrin_2558:

Absolutley right! :biggrin_25514: You certainly can "Say No" but...there are consequenses, or you can "Find another job" like all these brilliant posters have stated. Only to get to the next company and find that they are all the same.

Oh please, it is up to you and only you to protect your license. If your not intelligent enough to even do that, then perhaps another industry would suit you better. "Brilliant posters" ? Hardly, just some drivers that have enough guts to stand up and say no when a company endangers them, their license or the general public. NOT all companies are the same. The "good" one's hire those drivers that have the integrity to stand up and do the right thing. In 35+ years in the trucking industry, I've learned to say "no" a lot, and it hasn't hurt me a bit. It kept my record clean and enabled me to get those so called "dream jobs"...Like 28 years at UPS..
